“The Attributes of a Blessed Church”
When we hear the word “blessed,” we often think about what we have. We think about a nice building, financial stability, talented singers, gifted musicians, growing ministries, and a church full of people. And while we ought to thank God for every blessing He gives us, those things alone do not make a church blessed.
Because a church can have a beautiful sanctuary and still be spiritually empty.
A church can have a full choir stand and still have no praise.
A church can have money in the bank and still be spiritually bankrupt.
A church can have people in the pews and still not have power.
So the question becomes: What are the attributes of a blessed church?
As we begin to look at Acts chapter 2, we see the church in its earliest days. The Holy Spirit has come, Peter has preached, people have responded to the Gospel, and something powerful is beginning to take place.
And when we look closely at this early church, we begin to discover that there were certain qualities—certain characteristics, certain attributes—that marked their lives together.
Now, we haven’t gone too far into the sermon yet. We’ve kinda stayed on the front porch for a while. But even from the front porch, we got a glimpse of something important:
One of the attributes of a blessed church is that the church “is committed and steady.”✨
Verse 42 says, “And they continued stedfastly…”
They weren’t just excited for a moment. They weren’t just committed when things were going well. They continued. They were steadfast. They were steady.
As we continue to study this passage, let’s see what else the Word of God shows us about “The Attributes of a Blessed Church.”
