Matthew 5:9 says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
There is a difference between peacekeeping and peacemaking.
Peacekeeping often avoids difficult conversations. It stays silent to keep everyone comfortable. It fears rocking the boat, even when something needs to be addressed.
Peacemaking is different. Peacemaking is the courageous work of pursuing reconciliation, speaking truth in love, setting healthy boundaries, extending forgiveness, and addressing problems before they become divisions.
Real peace is not simply the absence of conflict. Biblical peace is the presence of wholeness, healing, and right relationships.
Peace is rarely something that just happens. It is something we work toward through prayer, humility, wisdom, and obedience to Christ.
This week, let's ask ourselves: Am I merely keeping the peace, or am I doing the hard work of making peace?
