Campfire Worship tomorrow!! 7pm at the fire pit! Also, at 6pm we will have our first Summer Strum Along where you can bring your ukelele, guitar, etc, and jam out with some friends! See you there!

Work Day number 1 in Pittsburgh. Our group split and worked at two sites today. At our host church, Christ Community, we cleaned, refurbished pews in the sanctuary, painted restrooms and part of the kitchen. It was raining in the morning so we had to delay some outside projects.

A second site was at the Light of Life Outreach Center. This center, funded and supplied by donations, provides free food, clothing and furniture to families in need. They also have short term and long term shelters in the community. We sorted clothing and household items and prepared donations for the center.

It was a great start and we enjoyed working with and learning from the staff at the center and Pastor Matt at the church. We are looking forward to continuing our projects tomorrow.

VBS Day 3! On Wednesday, these Adventurers learned about the importance of giving their all when they can! They learned this through the story of the Widow at the temple, who donated only two coins, yet Jesus says she gave the MOST out of the whole crowd, because she gave her entire livelihood! We can remember this message tomorrow, as the donation of the day is TOILET PAPER (for the CUMC food pantry). Remember to wear clothes with purple, and can also get wet!

VBS Day #2! Yesterday we crafted rockets, played games, painted, and learned about the importance of bravery through the example of Esther!

VBS Day #1! Yesterday, our kiddos learned that they have gifts, and more importantly, they learned that they can share them! Stay tuned this week to see what these Snowball Mountain Challengers are up to, and the valuable lessons they are learning!

LOVE IN ACTION!! Thank you to all volunteers who came out last week and used their talents, time, and energy to make a difference throughout the community! Listed below are all of the tasks our Love In Action team completed:

Flint (North End Soup Kitchen): Painted an entire cafeteria, constructed large storage shelves, stained a gazebo, renovated a stairwell, and landscaped a soup kitchen that serves meals to homeless people in Flint many times a day! This team finished early and was able to help other teams and decorate for VBS.

Pontiac: Completely replaced the siding and cleaned up the property of a group home housing facility. Despite being rained out a few times, this team persevered and completed the project at 8:30 pm on Friday evening!

CUMC:
Sewing team: Sewed 35 hats, many reusable diapers, and blankets, which will be donated to Midwest Mission.
Plarn: Crocheted 4 large mats and 5+ medium mats out of over 1,000 recycled plastic bags, which will be donated to North End Soup Kitchen in Flint for the homeless.
We also had a team craft 12 cornice boards for fellowship hall, and install lighting and cabinets in the youth classroom.
