Why is the Church of God a movement and not a denomination?

Early leaders like D. S. Warner believed God was calling people out of denominational division and into the unified body of Christ.

No membership. No denominational loyalty. Just salvation, holiness, and unity in Jesus.

A denomination has borders. A movement has a direction.

Even Jesus stepped away to sit with the Father.

In the middle of healing, teaching, and serving he paused. He listened. He was refilled.

Listening isn't passive. It's intentional. It means putting down your phone, silencing the noise, and making space for God to actually speak.

This Sunday, we're putting our faith into action.

Join us for Serve Sunday, where worship takes a hands-on form. Instead of a typical service, we'll be coming together to assemble care packages for families staying at The Fisher Houses at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Fisher Houses provide a home away from home for military families while their loved ones receive medical care. These families are far from home, navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives. We want them to know they're not forgotten.

This is what we mean when we talk about bringing heaven to earth: showing up for the marginalized, the underserved, and the overlooked, one care package at a time.

All are welcome. Come ready to serve. 🙏

🌱 This week, the Meadowscape Project hit its first big milestone: native wildflowers are officially being planted behind the church.

What's going in right now is a carefully selected mix of plants that evolved right here in the Mid-Atlantic. These aren't just pretty. Their deep root systems will anchor the soil, slow runoff, and help filter what reaches Cool Brook before it makes its way to the Chesapeake Bay.

A reminder of what's already been installed: rain barrels at every downspout, quietly collecting water and reducing stormwater load on the brook.
