When Jesus shared wisdom and mysteries at the sermon on the mount he was doing his Father's work... Jesus was in active ministry when this happened... yet I don't ever recall Jesus asking the disciples to check the numbers the synagogue was pulling in during the same time as Jesus's sermon... you see, Jesus knew he was about his Father's business and then went from the sermon on the mount to continue traveling, and healing people, without a care in the world of what the viewing numbers were elsewhere. In fact Jesus would be quoted, in red letters, again and again telling others to say nothing to anyone about the miraculous things they'd experienced with him.
Recently there's this strange western religion that touts Jesus but looks and acts a whole lot like the world... read Matthew 5-7... visit the sermon on the mount... soak in the words of Christ and reach for that connection with your creator... stop following the bells and whistles trying to hail your attention...this isn't a competition because the battle has already been won. God isn't competing with the world because He has already defeated the things of the world. We as believers are NOT in competition with the world... we are to be a light on the hill... we are to be Christlike which draws others to Him.
With the way things are going it seems like this is becoming a popularity contest... but the way I understand it is that is the furthest thing from the God I serve. We have a savior who stepped down from heaven to SERVE others not win the popular vote... Jesus did not expect to be a fan favorite when the crowds chose Barabbas over Jesus to be free that day.
Time and time again in scriptures we see evil rulers, evil masses and the few who stand with God in His will.. those few being mocked, ridiculed and in the new testament being very clearly and directly told that you will be hated (John 15:19) for choosing to walk with God.
If your heart is truly truly for the Lord... be the ministry you are called to be... what are you doing within your sphere of influence? What are you doing to advance the gospel within your set apart purpose in this world? Are you convinced it needs to be a world stage? Please know the love of Christ has NOTHING to do with popularity or a political party but has everything to do with turning towards God and surrendering to His will for YOUR life and YOU walk with God and repent and become new and become free from the world and rescued from it by Jesus the Savior.
To be rescued from the world of sin means to also be free of its opinions of you... we no longer care about the opinions of men but seek to please God. Serve God serve others... that is love...that should be the "full time show", the display of your life... stop worrying about the half time show 🏈 get on the field, get in the game... its most likely not a stage, its most likely not glitz and glamor, its most likely not popular opinion.... but its those you see every day, those you have reach into the lives of, those God has given you access to... is it your spouse? Your children? The coworker? Would these people in your life feel served and well cared for by you? Have you loved well? Are you doing unto others?
This isnt about popculture, this isnt about numbers...
Jesus loves you and wants you to be free from the chains that bind.
