Dear St. Paul’s Family,

We are delighted to share joyful news about the next chapter in St. Paul’s life. The vestry and Pastor Jason have signed a new Letter of Agreement naming him as our rector. This marks an important and hopeful milestone for St. Paul’s, and we give thanks for the Spirit’s guidance in bringing us to this moment.

Many have asked about the difference between a priest in charge and a rector. A priest in charge is appointed by the bishop for a defined period, usually during a season of transition or discernment. While they lead worship, provide pastoral care, and guide the parish, the role is generally intentionally temporary. A rector, on the other hand, is elected by the vestry and called to serve with long‑term stability. Rectors hold full authority for the worship and spiritual life of the parish and share leadership with the vestry in stewarding the mission and ministry of the congregation.

Pastor Jason will continue to serve both St. Paul’s and St. Michael and All Angels. St. Michael’s will continue to cover the cost for the work he does for them. Jason’s time at St. Michael and All Angels will be reduced; however, the vestry has assessed that we are fully capable of covering the increased costs of his time.

We are grateful for Pastor Jason’s faithful leadership during his time as priest in charge and look forward with joy to his continued ministry among us as rector. Please join us in praying for this new season of shared ministry at St. Paul’s.

With gratitude,
