St Paul's Episcopal Church

St Paul's Episcopal Church St. We worship together on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Welcome to St Paul's Episcopal Church! We strive to extend the love of Christ to all we meet.

Paul’s Episcopal Church is an open and affirming congregation that welcomes all as beloved children of God and seeks to extend Christ’s love while providing a Safe Space in Claremore. We are an open and affirming congregation that believes that each person is a beloved child of God, gifted and called to community and ministry. We support and respect the dignity of all persons, regardless of age, r

ace, economic status, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, marital status, family configuration, physical and mental ability, or faith history. We recognize that there are differences among us but believe that we can love alike even though we may not think alike. We are truly at our best when we listen and grow together. We hope that here you will find a true community of faith; a place where every person is both teacher and student, all are valued equally as their authentic selves, and no one is discriminated against because of the way in which they have been created. We value our diversity and celebrate those differences as intentional acts of God’s creation. We invite all people to join us in our faith journey towards greater love, understanding, and mutual respect. We actively seek people from all walks of life to join our church community and its leadership.

Hello, Dear Friends!

Last Sunday (8/23), we continued our focus on one of our freedoms in Christ - that is, the assurance that God is good all the time - and we looked at what it means to embrace our role as co-creators in God's goodness.
This Sunday (8/30), the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, is the 5th Sunday of the month. It has become our custom to do something a little different during our services on 5th Sundays; so, this week, we'll enjoy a good old-fashioned sing-a-long. We've collected hymn requests; Danny, Deacon Linda, Heidi, and Rev. Nancy are prepared to play the music for us; and at the time when we would normally hear a sermon, we will all sing together and let the music and the Holy Spirit do the "preaching." Please join us at 10 am for a unique Holy Eucharist, followed by coffee hour.

Coffee Hour Pot-Luck

After our service of song, we will (of course) enjoy coffee hour. Since it is a 5th Sunday, it's also a pot-luck week. So, bring a favorite food, or just bring yourself - we always have plenty to eat - and join with us as we share food and fellowship!

Classroom Needs

Last year, we began to support our very own "ambassador to the school," Christina. As such, we were asked to bring certain supplies for her classroom. Indeed, it was such a successful mission, that she was frequently able to share those supplies with her fellow teachers.

This year, instead of donating the supplies themselves, we have established a "School Supplies Fund." In lieu of bringing the supplies to a donation box at the church, we will donate money to this fund; that way, Christina will be able to purchase whatever is needed for the classroom/s and we will be able to reimburse her for those expenditures.

Community Shelf

Our community shelf is dangerously low on supplies! Please add this to your regular grocery shopping list. As we have many people who are utilizing this resource, this has become a crucial ministry for us; so, keep the non-perishables coming! The donation box is located just inside the double red doors to the church building.

Hello, Dear Friends!

There’s a lot happening at St. Paul’s as summer winds down and a new school year begins!

THIS SUNDAY — August 23 at 10 AM
Join us for Holy Eucharist as we continue exploring our freedom in Christ and what it means to embrace our role as co-creators in God’s goodness.

And don’t forget—it’s 4th Sunday Pot-Luck! Bring something to share and stay for food and fellowship after worship.

TOMORROW NIGHT — Pizza + Movie Night!
Friday, August 21 • 6 PM

Our final summer movie night is also the kickoff for our RSU Campus Ministry! We’ll have free pizza and settle in for a movie about a young person finding the courage to share who they are with their family.

Bring a friend, bring a pallet if you’d like, and come enjoy the evening with us!

COMING AUGUST 30 — SERMON-IN-SONG!

Our 5th Sunday worship will look a little different! Instead of a traditional sermon, we’re inviting everyone to choose a favorite hymn, and together we’ll let the Holy Spirit speak to us through music.

Have a hymn you’d love for us to sing? Let Rev. Nancy know by this Sunday so our musicians have time to prepare.

SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOLS

Our new School Supplies Fund will help Christina purchase exactly what she and her fellow teachers need throughout the school year. Donations can be made through Givelify by choosing “School Supplies.”

OUR COMMUNITY SHELF NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Our shelves are dangerously low, and many of our neighbors are using this resource. Please consider adding a few extra non-perishable items to your grocery cart this week. Donations can be dropped off just inside the double red doors.

COMMUNITY COOLING STATION

We’ll continue opening St. Paul’s on Fridays from Noon–6 PM through the end of August, offering a cool place to rest along with refreshments and hospitality. Volunteers are always welcome!

TUESDAYS @ RSU RETURN IN SEPTEMBER

This fall we’ll be reading Forging a Sacred Weapon by Kathy Baldock and exploring the surprising history behind how the Bible, culture, and politics became intertwined in conversations about LGBTQ+ people.

You can participate in person at RSU or via Zoom. If you’d like to join us and need a copy of the book, let Ron know.

And through all that we do, we continue to pray—for our students and teachers, our neighbors, our community, our world, and all those who have entrusted their needs to our prayers.

There’s a place for you at St. Paul’s.

Here, you will be loved.
