This is something that probably should be more publicly known. Not because anyone is seeking recognition. Not because pastors want attention. And certainly not because we believe we have all the answers. But because it is important for our community to know that every first Tuesday of the month, a group of local pastors gather at the invitation of city leadership to join them and pray for our city. We come from different denominations. We worship differently. We do not agree on everything. Yet we stand together as Christians who care deeply about this community and the people who call it home. We pray for our city leaders and elected officials. We pray for city employees who serve behind the scenes. We pray for first responders, teachers, businesses, families, and neighborhoods. We pray for wisdom, strength, guidance, protection, and blessing.
We even pray for those who disagree, oppose or see the world differently. Because prayer is not about choosing sides. It is about seeking God's will and asking for His grace to be present in our community. As we prayed this morning, a simple question came up.
Are you acting the way you believe?
Not just on Sunday. Not just when people are watching. But in your conversations, your social media posts, your workplace, your neighborhood, and your treatment of those who think differently than you.
If we believe in grace, are we showing grace?
If we believe in forgiveness, are we forgiving?
If we believe in love, are we loving?
If we believe Jesus calls us to pray for our neighbors and even our enemies, are we doing that?
This isn't something I share to boast about what pastors are doing. In fact, these prayer meetings happen quietly and before most of the city is up and about.
But I think now even more than ever before it needs to be proclaimed.
In a time when division creates headlines, it is worth knowing that people are still coming together. It is worth knowing that churches are praying together. It is worth knowing that faith leaders are seeking God's wisdom for our city and its future. This group of pastors believe that The Holy Spirit is at work in our city and we believe Claremore is worth praying for.
So today, take a moment to pray for our city. Pray for its leaders. Pray for its people. Pray for those who you agree with and for those you don't and ask yourself.
Am I acting the way I believe
