Sharing a prayer from Marilyn Hickey's book: Prayers that Avail Much, (with some emphasis added-mine)
O God in Heaven, we Your people have sinned against You, in word, thought and in our actions (in our deeds) by what we have done and what we have left undone.
In our nation, the United States, we've taken Your precepts, Your teachings, Your Commandments and Your love off our walls, out of our schools, our businesses, our courts, our laws and removed Your from our hearts.
O God forgive us, (forgive me in and for all the times I have failed to put You first) for all the times we fail to put You first, for all the times we look the other way when we see injustice right before our eyes!!
Lord, thank You that my family and I live in the United States and for the system of government our founding Father's established, though we are guilty of tainting it.
We are grieving our closer relationship with You---in Your absence from our hearts we have this chaos! We pray for our President and his administration to seek Your face and Godly council! May all those government officials only seek Your truth and do what is pleasing to You.
Father I pray that each person in service of political office in whatever capacity will repent, seek Your face, turn away from their worship of money, power, self-reighteousness and all the evil idols of this day--fame, fortune, self centeredness...
Lord, remove from office those who mock Your and hardened their hearts to the Truth! Take away their power like You did in the Old Testament kings who disobeyed and did evil. Replace those who follow satan and his lies, who worship idols and put in office Godly people who worship You.
I know from Your Word that Your heart grieves when we disobey, do what is wrong and evil and give our loveto other things---I am sorry for all that I may think, do or say that is not of You, that is rebellious, that puts You any place other than first in my life. In the Name of Your perfect Son, Jesus, forgive me and by Your Spirit help me to follow You more closely.
Root out the evil Lord, by Your mighty power! Help us to learn what we need to learn and turn back to You with our whole Hearts! Your Word declares in Psalms 33:12 'blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.' We receive Your Blessings, [;ease do not remove them from us. God help us to turn, repent from the things that made us fall, brought destruction and destitution. It is written in Your Great Word Lord, that the heart of the king in is Your hand and You have control over it... turn our Nation's king, our President's heart to You in all things, or take him out of office and replace him with a Godly person who does not do evil in Your eyes.
I give You thanks for my country, for Your Word that shows us our condition and how much You love Your people despite our faults and failures. Bring us back to 'One Nation under God'.
May Your Word prevail throughout our country and around the world till Your Kingdom returns and we reign with Jesus, I pray in His Heavenly Name, Amen.

Love Your neighbor as yourself...

As we walk this road of life, we collect 'seeds' along the way from the path we have chosen. In torn we drop these seeds along the way for others to pick up and distribute
The question is 'what seeds' are you gathering and passing along? Seeds of Joy, Hope, Love, Faith?
or entangling weeds?
The choice is yours! Be a blessing to someone today 😊

From Carol McLeod's book "No More Ordinary"
"Often we have allowed the inconvenience of difficult circumstances to mellow our faith and to make it less than it was in its enthusiastic, infant stages. One way to fight against this deterioration of a vibrant faith is to follow up your faith with the action that ripens and develops it . Faith, at is finest and truest, is not defined by the premise that God will give you what you want, but faith is the confident knowing that God will always do the right thing because He is infinitely and unshakeable good."
-Carol McLeod

He's immutable- He's always been good, faithful, loving, merciful
and full of grace.
He sees you, always has.... He waits, lovingly for you to return to
Him... His heart breaking and His tears flowing for His lost
child to return home.
He has so much to give you to strengthen you in this life time,
AND an eternity beyond imagination, if you'll turn to Him ...

Lord, I pray for the lost and those who have allowed their faith to weaken and wane... by Your Spirit, call the prodicals and the wandering Home to Your arms. Turn us all towards You, and the plans You have for us... All in the Holy Life giving Name above all Names, Jesus. Amen

Oh Glorious Resurrection Day!

" After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him.' Now I have told you."
----Matthew 28:1-7

Jesus' resurrection is the key to our Christian faith, for only if it is true, do we have hope, and the promise that He is the Son of God, who laid down His life for us. He that defeated death has taken the sting of death away and given us eternity with Him in its place! Hallelujah ! Glory to God in the Highest! That tomb was empty, we have hope and a future, and that friends is the Best News Ever! Thank You Jesus!

This morning in my quiet time I am reading John's account of the empty tomb. Mary Magdalene had just been to the tomb in which Jesus was buried, and saw that the stone was rolled away. She runs back to Peter and John to inform them that someone has taken Jesus' body away!

"So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen."
-------John 20:3-7

I love to have family meals in which everyone comes together . Seems like the only time we can all visit and find out what is going on in each others' lives. When we have the get togethers, I get out cloth napkins because it makes it a little more special (in my opinion) . As each person finishes their meal, they toss the napkin on the table beside their plate. I've noticed the same thing happening when we eat at a restaurant.
I read in Hebrew tradition the same practice. But there was another habit. If a master of the house was not finished dining, they would fold their napkin as a sign to the servant, that they were not finished, they would be coming back to the table.
Now look back at the details John included in his account of the tomb:
The cloth that had been around Jesus' head, was not tossed aside, no, it was neatly folded and set aside separately!!!!
The significance?!?!?

John wanted to emphasize to the readers of his writings:

JESUS IS COMING BACK!!!

This is Holy Week, a week of remembering the great suffering Jesus did for all human-kind. We remember He said from the cross "It is finished" and He 'said from the tomb "I'll be back"!

I cannot say.....
"Our"- if I live only for myself.
"Father" - if I do not endeavor each day to act like His child.
"Who art in Heaven" - if I am so occupied with the earth that I am laying up no treasure there.
"Hallowed be Thy Name" - if I am not surrendering to holiness.
"Thy Kingdom come" - if I am not doing all in my power to hasten that wonderful event.
"Thy Will be done" - if I am questioning, resentful of, or disobedient to His Will for me.
"On earth as it is in Heaven" - if I am not prepared to devote my life here to His service.
"Give us this day our daily bread" - if I am dishonest or am seeking things by subterfuge (trickery, deceit, devious), or I am living on past experience.
"Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us" - if I harbor a grudge against anyone.
"Lead us not into temptation" - if I deliberately place myself in a position where I am likely to be tempted.
"Deliver us from evil" - if I do not put on the whole armor of God and am not prepared to fight it in the spiritual realm with the weapon of prayer.
"Thine is the Kingdom" - if I do not give the King the loyalty due Him from a faithful subject.
"The power" - if I fear what people may do or what my neighbors may think.
"The glory" - if Is'm seeking honor only for myself, and
"Forever" - if the horizon of my life is completely bounded by time.
"Amen" - if I do not also add "cost what it may". For to say this prayer honestly will cost everything.

God help us to evaluate honestly where we are in our lives, so that we may pray this prayer Jesus taught with utmost sincerity, and continue to conform to His image. In His Holy and powerful Name we pray. Amen.

" Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spike in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy."
-----James 5:7-12

I am up to my ears in gardening right now, all the spring clean up and planting projects that normally go on as well as planting/growing/ praying for plants to grow well for our His Vessels for Uganda garden and plant sale coming up! All of this being said, my thoughts are in the dirt! haha 😉
James speaks of the patience of the farmer, because the people of his time grew much of their own food and could relate to this comparison... well I can sure relate too!
Here are some thoughts...
Life like gardening/farming requires lots of patience, Amen? There is patience in waiting on answers for our prayers for one. Patience is required in working with others... our family, friends, co-workers, as well as strangers.
Some may say well I am not a farmer, but I beg to differ. Each one of us is sowing seeds every day, in every encounter with others. Seeds of Joy, Hope, Love, Patience, Goodness, Kindness, Grace, Light, Peace, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and self-control (Galations 5) whether intentional or not... we are sowing some sort of seeds!!! We cannot sow seeds of corn and expect sunflowers to sprout, or clover and expect brussel sprouts. The law of seed, is only what is sown can be expected in the harvest. I for one am grateful that I can be assured that what I plant is what will grow!!!
So as we go about our days, may we each be conscience of what seeds we carry in our "pockets" and sow, sow, sow for the harvest of souls! Lord Jesus make it so!

Oh my humanity I cannot escape...
Have a laugh at my expense this morning, but once I discovered the reason behind my waiting I just had to share!!!

The gardening and seed sowing has been at the highest point the last few weeks in preparation for our Spring garden and house plant sale for Uganda . I have planted many seeds on hand as well as ordered new varieties of flowers, tomatoes etc... Most have arrived, but for a few weeks now I have waited and waited for a new tomato seed from a well known company who usually ship within days. I've checked my e-mail a couple of times a day looking for a notice that it had shipped.
Finally today, I went to their site to search for my missing order number with the intent to contact the company to see if there was a back order. Imagine my surprise that I had not clicked the final "order now" button !?!?!? Here I am expecting something I had not requested!!!!!

Okay, follow my thinking here... How many times do I expect something from God, an answer to a problem, a prayer request that I haven't given to Him? A need I haven't relinquished control over to Him? God knows what we need -- that's a given, but He doesn't just take control of the situation, He waits for us to surrender it to Him. "Thy Will Be Done" in my family, in my job, in my relationships, in my finances, in my ministry, in my _________ . We can't compartmentalize Him, He isn't satisfied with just some areas of our lives, just part of our hearts.

Lord, help me to surrender_________. Today and each day forward I pray You will hear the cries of my heart and work Your will in each relationship, each part of my life all for Your Glory! By Your Spirit, help my to not expect miracles in areas I have not fully surrendered to You. You are the God of increase, may it be so in all areas of my life. In the power of the mighty Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Psalm 46
"God is our refuge and strength
an ever present help in trouble.
Therefore we willnot fear, thought the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of
God,
the Holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
He lifts His voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see the works of the Lord,
the desolations He has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
He burns the shields with fire.
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

In this Season of Lent, think of the power of the Lord, we can't fathom His purposes but we can trust that though we do not understand , we can fully trust His plans and purposes.

Trouble may be all around us, the earthquakes, storms destroy but He created the earth.
Wars rage among nations and people die at the hands of others---hard to comprehend why He doesn't stop them? One day He will, until we must trust in His timing... Only He can see the future and holds those keys. Once His purpose is accomplished He will cease all the wars.
God cease the storms and wars inside our hearts today and fill us with Your peace instead. May we worship You for You are worthy and exalt You, our Lord Almighty. In the Power of the Spirit and Miracle working Name of Christ Jesus.. Amen
