Be Prepared - Severe Weather Season

Stay Informed: Listen to local news or a NOAA Weather Radio to stay updated about tornado watches and warnings.

Contact Your Loved Ones: Let your family and close friends know you're okay so they can help spread the word.

Assess the Damage: After the threat of tornadoes has ended, check to see if your property has been damaged. Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and sturdy shoes when walking through storm damage.

CONFIRMED TORNADO 🌪️: It does appear we had a CONFIRMED TORNADO today in Trussville, AL with a sub severe storm earlier this evening. Very minor damage occurred.

Some local Meteorologists were calling this a “Gustnado”, but Gustnadoes do not have fully condensed vortex breakdown nor even visible funnels extending up to the cloud base. A tornado is a tornado. Whether if it was warned or not.. It was weak, but albeit caused damage.

Thunderstorms can produce tornadoes at any time due to microscale processes that does not need all the ingredients needed for severe weather.

Sheltering is appropriate when you need protection in your home, workplace, or another area in the event of other critical situations. It may be necessary to take refuge for only a brief period of time. In such situations, stay informed by using weather apps or radios and follow the recommendations of local authorities.
