Every pastor knows the feeling: more work to be done than there are people to do it.

This week's Resource of the Week is an episode of the Lead On Podcast with Jeff Iorg, president of the SBC Executive Committee, on how pastors recruit and develop lay volunteers to lead key areas of ministry rather than carrying those areas alone until something breaks.

From Bro. Tyler, our Associational Mission Strategist: "One of the most common issues in church life is a lack of volunteers. Every pastor feels it on a regular basis. There is often more work to be done and fewer people to do it, and that pressure is an ongoing issue in the life of many churches. Dr. Iorg provides helpful insights from his own experience as you think through how to develop leaders in your church."

One county. One night. One gospel.

Churches across Chilton County are coming together for Celebration 250, a county-wide night of worship, testimony, and gospel preaching with Rob Jackson of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.

Thursday, October 1, 6:30 PM
Chilton County High School Auditorium

The night before, on Wednesday, September 30, churches all over the county are invited to set aside their midweek service to pray for revival. We would love for your church to be one of them.

But we don't want to wait until the end of the month to start praying. All through September, Pray 4 Chilton is sending one short prayer prompt by email each day, building toward September 30 and October 1. Sign up and pray with us: pray.chiltonbaptist.online

Save the date. Start praying. And start thinking about who you will bring.

Leading a team is one thing. Leading it somewhere is another.

The Intentional Leader Series: Pathfinder is a one-day training on leading with intentionality: helping the people you lead understand why you are going where you are going, staying with them through the doing, and knowing how to evaluate it once you arrive.

Dr. Kevin Blackwell, executive director of the Mobile Baptist Network will be speaking.

Tuesday, September 15
9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
State Board of Missions, 1404 Fairview Ave., Prattville
$10, lunch included

Celebration 250 is not another event on a crowded calendar. It is one night when 54 churches stop working in parallel and worship as one body, asking God to do a great work in our county and our country. 6:30 PM at the Chilton County High School Auditorium.

Clear the date before September fills up.

This week's CBA Weekly also carries the Week of Prayer for State Missions (September 13-20), the Lunch & Learn at Liberty Hill on September 14, and the Christmas Backpacks need for our two church plant partners.

Read it here:

On Thursday, October 1, churches from across Chilton County will gather in the same room. Celebration 250 is not another event on a crowded calendar. It is one night when 54 churches stop working in parallel and worship as one body, asking God to do in this county what no single congregation can do....

Alabama Baptists set aside September 13-20 to pray together for our state and to give to the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering. It supports Alabama WMU, Disaster Relief, Church Planting, Partnership Missions, and Church Revitalization, and the state goal this year is $1.2 million.

There are churches all over Alabama that have plateaued or declined and are praying for God to breathe life back into them. This offering puts real resources behind that work. Take a few minutes before the week gets here to look at what your church can do.

Alabama Baptists set aside September 13-20 this year to pray together for a movement of God across our state and to give to the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering. The offering carries the names of Martha Myers and Kathleen Mallory, two women who spent their lives on the Great Commission, and it....

"Whenever God is ready to do something new with His people, He always sets them to praying." (J. Edwin Orr)

This Tuesday, September 1, a brand-new 30-day prayer guide begins. One prompt a day, 15 minutes, praying together for a movement of God in Chilton County: for our churches, our pastors, our students, and our neighbors who don't know Jesus. The whole month builds toward our county-wide night of prayer on September 30 and Celebration 250 on October 1.
