League of Women Voters of Citrus County to Host Candidate Meet & Greet for District 23 Florida House of Representatives and Climate Briefing
CRYSTAL RIVER, FL — The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Citrus County invites the public to a pivotal community event on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, featuring a critical briefing on coastal climate risks followed by a Meet and Greet with candidates for the Florida House of Representatives.
The event will be held at the Coastal Region Library in Crystal River, beginning promptly at 10:00 AM.
Gulf Coast storm preparedness the meeting will open with a presentation by Dr. Don Wright, Professor Emeritus at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), College of William & Mary. A renowned expert and author of numerous publications on coastal climate change, Dr. Wright will share urgent insights regarding the shifting environmental landscape.
"Recent science publications suggest that unprecedented conditions could take place by late summer," says Dr. Wright. "I feel a moral obligation to communicate some important warnings and risk reduction strategies to our county neighbors."
Meet the District 23 Candidates Following Dr. Wright’s presentation, candidates running for Florida House of Representatives District 23 will take the floor. Each candidate will provide a brief introduction, outlining their platforms and priorities for the upcoming term.
The session will conclude with an informal Meet and Greet, providing residents a unique opportunity to speak directly with the candidates, ask questions, and collect campaign information.
