I continue to be inspired by the faithful work of UUs to engage in our freely chosen values in support of a healthy planet, healthy community, and climate justice. This work has been ongoing in Unitarian Universalism for decades, and it remains urgent, especially in this election season.

Recently, your UUA’s Side With Love team shared guidance on a complex and divisive piece of legislation called the “Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act” that seems intended to make permitting for fossil fuels, data centers, and similar infrastructure projects easier. We know from our partners that in addition to undermining existing environmental protection laws, the bill also has the potential to have significant negative impacts on Tribal Nations. These moments are an opportunity for deeply meaningful religious practice for Unitarian Universalists.

As we each consider our own support or opposition to this legislation, let us do so grounded in our deeply held values. We might ask ourselves, “Can we find solutions for permitting reform that protect Indigenous sovereignty, protect our environment, and protect our right to know how infrastructure projects will impact our communities?” In this time of heightened political engagement, may we remember that together, Unitarian Universalists make an impact, and together, we can move our country toward greater justice, equity, and sustainability.

Please join us this Sunday to hold our Annual Water Service with Art Jones

The Annual Water Service is a Unitarian Universalist tradition where people bring water from their summer travels to add in a communal bowl as part of the service.

Or you can bring a small sample of water representing a place that is important to you.

The combined water is symbolic of our shared faith coming from many different sources. All the shared water will be poured on plants in our Memory Garden after the service.

Art will also share how a simple plant called hydrilla can disrupt a whole ecosystem.

Art Jones has been cleaning up our waterways here along the Nature Coast since 2003. He started a movement that endures to this day and is continuing to grow and be copied in other areas of Florida. With his "One Rake at a Time" project, thousands of people have gotten involved in volunteering to help remove invasive weeds and algae from the freshwater springs.

Please join us this Sunday as we welcome and listen to UU Rev Cynthia Snavely on "Letting Go and Holding On". Rev. Snavely has visited with us many times and is always with a thoughtful message.

Letting go and holding on... Every time I move, I debate with myself as to what I should keep and what I should let go. Deciding what to keep and what to let go can be an important spiritual practice, not just at the time of our move, but regularly throughout our lives, as we consider not just things but also our beliefs and practices.

Rev. Cynthia Snavely currently serves the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Harford County in Churchville, Maryland. She began her ministry as a United Methodist and moved into Unitarian Universalist ministry in the early 90’s. She has served congregations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina, Florida and New Jersey. She lives with her daughter, her daughter’s significant other, and her five grandchildren.

This is courage !

What does it mean to live our faith when conscience calls us to act?

On September 17, the Rev. Sara LaWall, minister of the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, addressed the court at her sentencing following her conviction for misdemeanor trespassing. She was arrested in April after remaining in Idaho Gov. Brad Little’s office after closing while seeking to advocate with others about legislation affecting transgender Idahoans.

In her sentencing statement, Rev. LaWall reflects on the Unitarian Universalist tradition of dissent, the call to protect human dignity and civil liberties, and her decision to engage in civil disobedience as an act of faithful witness.

“I could not, in good conscience, sacrifice my moral and religious integrity for the comfort of obeying the state and allowing these injustices to go unanswered,” she told the court.

Solidarity looks like showing up for one another—and building the power to act together.

Last weekend, faith leaders, organizers, and community members from across Tennessee gathered in Memphis for the 2026 Tennessee Solidarity Summit. They came together to strengthen relationships and organizing networks—and to stand with Memphis communities calling for an end to the Memphis Safe Task Force, citing its impact on immigrant families and other residents.

The summit included several days of training, relationship-building, and organizing, culminating in a gathering at the National Civil Rights Museum.

The summit was hosted by the Tennessee Unitarian Universalist Community Action Network (TUUCAN), UU the Vote, and MICAH - Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope , with Neshoba Church serving as the gathering place.

Solidarity Summits are an initiative of UU the Vote and Side With Love. They bring faith communities, organizers, advocates, and community partners together to deepen relationships and build the skills and networks needed for collective action.
