What's the sin you've let slide?

1 Corinthians 5 reminds us that the church can't simply ignore sin and call it love.

But there's an important distinction:

Godly discipline isn't about holding everyone else accountable while ignoring ourselves.

And we can't hold the world to a standard they haven't signed up for.

Our first responsibility is to examine our own lives.

God's grace doesn't give us permission to stay the same.

You've been saved. This is not you anymore.

Before you point out someone else's sin, take a look at your own heart.

Godly correction doesn't come from a place of superiority. It comes from humility.

You will never be confronted by a perfect person.

The person correcting you may have their own struggles, their own shortcomings, and their own need for grace.

That doesn't automatically make the truth they're speaking untrue.

So when someone comes to you in love and corrects you, ask yourself:

“Is God trying to show me something through this?”

Truth can hurt—but truth can also set you free.

We don't correct people because we think we're better than them. We correct because we care about where they're headed.

Godly discipline isn't about punishment, embarrassment, or making someone feel ashamed. The goal is restoration.

Hebrews 12:6 reminds us that the Lord disciplines the one He loves.

Sometimes love says, “I care about you too much to stay silent.”

And sometimes the person who needs correction is us.

Ezekiel 33:6 gives us a pretty sobering picture. The watchman sees danger coming, but if he doesn’t warn the people, he’s held responsible.

We’ve been entrusted with something just as important—the message of life, grace, and salvation.

It’s easy to get caught up in what people think of us, what they might say, or whether they’ll agree with us. But when we stop living for the approval of others and start living with eternity in mind, our priorities begin to change.

We have an influence. We have opportunities. We have people around us who need to see and hear about Jesus.

It’s easy to talk a good game about faith, scroll past inspiring verses, or debate theology. But Sunday's message reminded us of a vital truth from 1 Corinthians 4:14-21: Paul's firm yet deeply loving reminder to the church.

God doesn't just want intellectual agreement; He loves repentance and He loves a willing heart.

We’ve been challenged to look at more than just what we believe! We’re looking at how the Word changes the way we live, respond, serve, and grow.

Come join us for Small Group this Wednesday at 6:30 PM as we dig into 1 Corinthians and see what God has for us.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Just bring your Bible, come ready to learn, and be part of the conversation.
