A Speed of Soul Thought
You can never go wrong by being willing to listen. It is never a mistake to be kind. It is possible to be true, clear and honest and still be kind. Kindness is not avoiding what is hard, it is approaching what is hard with a particular spirit.
Bringing kindness (the unadorned manifestation of love) to every interaction, online, in person, and even to myself creates an open space. A space where a shift might happen, a change is possible. Nothing changes without love. Nothing else even moves the dial in the long arch, in the fullness of time.
Yes, I will be human in this endeavor of manifesting love in the real world. I'll get angry, disappointed, confused and overwhelmed. But when I decide to practice daily kindness (until it is my first reaction instead of the last), that simple manifestation of love shifts the center of every conversation, it grounds my actions in something other than fear. I fall, but I pick myself up, sometimes even with a sense of humor. I can listen and let go of presumptions. I can acknowledge disappointment without diminishment.
It is true my friends, that over the years I have seen a simple act of kindness change a person's whole day, and heard how a small kindness might be remembered like a deep and sustaining gift for a lifetime.
So be safe, be well, be brave...and whenever possible, be kind.
