After 166 years, North Presbyterian Church, a.k.a. NorthChurch, will be dissolving as a congregation at the end of this month. From the beginning, North has sought to live out it's faith in serving this community, and we are grateful for the space of welcome that Northside has held for us.
We are glad to be passing on stewardship of our facility to a new nutrition-based non profit, Heart In Balance, which shares our commitment to community collaboration. The funds raised 2 years ago to repair our roof, some of which came from Northside neighbors, will be turned over to them and will go toward converting the roof of the fellowship hall into an extensive rooftop garden. Keep your eyes open for what will be growing here!
We invite anyone who would like, to come to our closing service on Friday December 31, 4 PM, followed by a brief reception.
Look for another post soon for a bit more of North's history.
Obviously, there is sadness for us, but no despair, and we are hopeful about the possibility of a new Presbyterian gathering forming in Northside in the near future. As we say goodbye as a congregation to Northside, we thank you for the partnerships we've had with so many of you, and continue to pray God's best for this community and each one who lives here.
