We had our first Glen Wright Sr. Storybook Picnic today at Winton Terrace! We served 96 lunches to children and parents, gave away 60+ books to children and all the water 😁

A huge THANK YOU to Cathy Adams for cooking, Ms. Shelia, Ms. Shirley, Ms. Kat, & Alex for helping us distribute the books and the bags of lunch!

Glen Wright Sr. Storybook Picnic will be visiting Winton Terrace for the next 5 Tuesdays (through July 21).
The first stop at 11:15- 11:45 the second stop from noon-12:30.

Beginning July 2 we will be visiting the North College Hill Schools Board of Education office on Thursdays from 11 am - 12:30 pm, ending July 23rd.

We are so grateful for our Youth at Center Hill! We were very well represented at Territorial Star Search by Grace Deitrick (Brass, Level 3) and Jechiliah Asobo (Brass, Level 2). Both of these ladies did so well and are to be congratulated! Jechiliah placed 3rd in her Level of all competitors from our territory 🏆 We praise God all of His blessings 🙏🙌😊

Our Center Hill women’s ministries had the very best circus/birthday party! We had all the yummy circus food with cake and ice cream to celebrate our April/May/June birthdays! There were fun games where everyone won awesome prizes and the devotion was fantastic.
Brenda Shomberger thank you so much for all you did for the ladies! Everyone was so happy as they returned home. I heard so many comments about how great of an evening it was.

History
In 1938, the first-ever National Donut Day was celebrated in Chicago, and the history of The Salvation Army’s Donut Lassies was officially immortalized. In 1917, these women were sent to France to establish field bases near the front lines. In makeshift huts, thousands of soldiers would come to stock up on essential goods and grab a sweet treat baked by the Lassies.

Both the presence of these courageous women and the donuts that tasted of home brought a light of hope and happiness to the battlefield — a much-needed morale boost for languishing soldiers. In fact, the Donut Lassies are also credited with popularizing the donut in the United States after the troops (commonly known as “doughboys”) came back from fighting in Europe. And still today, over a hundred years later, The Salvation Army continues to serve on the front lines through a wide range of social services for the most vulnerable individuals and families living in the United States. Over a hundred years later, National Donut Day remains a time to reflect on the Donut Lassies’ selfless acts of service and a time to recognize veterans' bravery and sacrifice.
