La Herencia de La Inglesia pt. 2

403 churches. 827 ministers. 21,000 members.

By 1970, that’s what the Latin American District looked like under the leadership of José Girón, a Hispanic pastor, evangelist, church planter, and leader.

Girón helped lead during an incredible season of growth and created structures that allowed more churches and leaders to flourish.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate his leadership and the countless Hispanic pastors and leaders whos faithful ministry has helped churches and communities flourish.⛪️

La Herencia de La Inglesia pt. 1

Demetrio and Nellie Bazan were ordained for ministry together in 1920, less than a month before they were married.

Demetrio went on to become a pastor, evangelist, and the first Hispanic superintendent of the Latin American District of the Assemblies of God. Nellie was a gifted preacher, evangelist, and writer.

Together, their lives are part of a rich legacy of Hispanic leadership who have faithfully shaped the Church and carried the gospel forward.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate their story and the rich legacy of Hispanic leadership in the Church!🌍

“Do not be silent; there is no limit to the power that may be released through you.” — Howard Thurman

In 1944, Howard Thurman co-founded The Church for the Fellowship of All Peoples in San Francisco—the first fully integrated, multi-cultural church in the United States.

His life and ministry continue to challenge the Church to pursue unity, reconciliation, and a faith that works for peace.

“‘All unrighteousness is sin—be it prejudice or adultery.”-Thurman Faison

In 1971, African-American Assemblies of God minister Thurman Faison addressed the meeting of the Pentecostal Fellowship of North America. More than 50 years later, his call to gospel-centered reconciliation still challenges the church to preach the gospel, confront prejudice, and live out a faith that’s both eternal and relevant!

This Black History Month we honor his vision and zeal for the things of the Kingdom🖤
