SURPRISE!!!
**From the Desk of Very Rev. Alonzo Q. Cox, K.C.H.S., Vicar**
We've had to keep it under wraps during development. But the Brooklyn Vicariate Office of Black Catholic Concerns is thrilled to announce the launch of our new series on NET TV, "Truly Black & Catholic."
Through the work of our good friends at DeSales Media Group, "Truly Black & Catholic ( )" will be a television segment dedicated to all things pertinent to our Black Catholic community here in the Diocese of Brooklyn & Queens, as well as important issues facing Black Catholics nationally and globally.
From our "Saintly Seven" Candidates for Canonization, to facing the current challenges to our Civil Rights, whether discussing our countries of origin and ethnic diversity, or re-investigating the importance of our music & culture in Catholic Liturgy, our goal is to provide a safe space and a voice for all that we do as members of the Body of the Church, reaffirming who we are - and *whose* we are - as Disciples of the Risen Lord.
Our first episode airs
*Monday, June 1st, 8:30pm, on NET-TV*
To kick off our series, I will be discussing a Candidate for Sainthood from our own Diocese, Servant of God, Msgr. Bernard John Quinn, a local Priest who, as many of you know, not only defended the rights & human dignity of Black Americans through his actions, but used his influence & resources to build Saint Peter Claver Church, the first documented Parish to minister specifically to Black Catholics in Brooklyn.
Joining me will be Bishop Emeritus Nicholas DiMarzio, who oversaw the campaign to have the Church consider Msgr. Quinn for Sainthood, and who, through the power of prayer, has a personal connection to this wonderful Priest.
You can view NET-TV through the following channels
Verizon Fios: Channel #548
