I’m excited to announce the launch of my new podcast, Legitimate Conversations with Dr. Victor Couzens.

My experience on the Legacy Conversations podcast reminded me how important it is to have a safe and trusted space for meaningful conversations with interesting people about the things that matter. Not sound bites. Not rehearsed answers. Real conversations that allow us to explore life, faith, culture, leadership, relationships, business, success, setbacks, and the experiences that shape who we become.

Legitimate Conversations is built around curiosity, connection, and the power of dialogue. I’ll sit across from compelling people, hear their stories, explore their ideas, ask questions worth asking, and venture into conversations we don’t have nearly enough.

Some episodes will inspire. Others will challenge, inform, surprise, or simply make us laugh. The guests will be diverse, the subjects will be wide-ranging, and the conversations will always be legitimate.

I believe there is still tremendous power in sitting down, listening to one another, exchanging ideas, and allowing a good conversation to take us somewhere we didn’t expect to go.

I’m excited about this new journey, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Official Statement:

Jasper Williams III invited me to be a guest on the Legacy Conversations platform. After nearly eight years of choosing to remain publicly silent about the matter and the ordeal surrounding it, I accepted the invitation because I believed would be a trusted and safe space for honest reflection, transparency, and meaningful conversation.

I am aware that the video has since been removed, in part because of the threat of legal action and because some of the comments ultimately created discomfort for the host.

While I disagree with his decision, I extend grace to Jasper and accept the decision he felt he needed to make in the interest of his platform.

I now recognize that some conversations carry a weight not every person or platform is prepared to carry once that weight becomes real.

My purpose in participating was NEVER to blame, slander, malign, or impugn anyone. My purpose was accountability.

Accountability includes my own.

After nearly eight years, I chose to speak honestly about what I experienced, what I learned, where I failed, where others failed, and what I believe the Church must learn if we are serious about repentance, grace, healing, and restoration; that was the mission I had in mind and still hold.

Removing the conversation does NOT change my convictions. And there is nothing I said that I wish I had said differently. I hold fast to what I said and stand by it.

Here is what I believe:

1. There are consequences to disobedience, even when I am the disobedient one.

Accountability that applies only to other people is not accountability. I have never claimed perfection, nor have I attempted to absolve myself of responsibility for my own decisions. Where I was wrong, I was wrong. Where repentance was required, repentance was necessary. Grace does not eliminate responsibility, but neither should responsibility eliminate grace.

2. Many relationships within the Body of Christ are entirely too transactional.

We should not value people only while they are useful to us, beneficial to our ministries, connected to something we want, or able to advance our interests. Genuine relationship should survive seasons when there is nothing to gain from one another.

3. There is not a faultless or blameless person in this world, and everyone deserves grace, even the preacher.

Every person needs grace. Every person will eventually need forgiveness. Preachers are not exempt from accountability, but neither should they be excluded from the grace and restoration they have spent their lives preaching to others.

4. When we as pastors cause injury to people, especially spiritual injury, we must repent and seek to make it right.

Our titles do not exempt us from accountability. They increase our responsibility for it. When our words, decisions, leadership, or actions wound people, we should possess enough spiritual maturity to acknowledge the injury, repent where necessary, and do what we can to make things right.

5. No one should be perpetually punished for their mistakes.

If we preach redemption, then we must make room for redeemed people. If we preach restoration, then restoration cannot merely be something we celebrate in Scripture while denying it to people in real life. A person’s worst moment should not automatically become their permanent identity.

6. Too many spiritual leaders are more interested in defending and protecting the people they like than simply doing what is right.

Spiritual authority should never become a shield against accountability. Our relationships, loyalties, friendships, and preferences should never become more important than truth, righteousness, fairness, and doing what is right.

7. The Church must stop taking its cues from the world concerning sin, repentance, forgiveness, and restoration.

We have our own Gospel. We have our own example. We have our own mandate. The Church should demonstrate what redemption looks like rather than imitate a culture that often believes a person’s worst moment must follow them forever.

8. I LOVE the life I am living now. I LOVE it!

Yes, my church is smaller than it once was, but it is stronger, healthier, and more pure than it has ever been. There is nothing behind me that I crave. There is nothing behind me that I desire. I am not telling my story because I am trying to recover yesterday. I am grateful for today, and I am excited about tomorrow.

9. Nobody can change what I have built.

I do not care what people choose to call it, how they characterize it, or what they decide to do with it. History does not cease to exist because someone becomes uncomfortable with the person who helped make it. What happened, happened. What was built, was built. What was accomplished, was accomplished.

10. Being humble does not mean you have to take whatever people throw at you.

You can be humble and still speak.

You can forgive and still tell the truth.

You can extend grace and still require accountability.

You can acknowledge your own failures without accepting responsibility for everyone else’s.

And you can move forward without pretending that what happened behind you never happened.

For nearly eight years, I chose silence. When I finally chose to speak, I did so thoughtfully, knowingly, and truthfully.

I extend grace to everyone involved. I pray for everyone involved. I wish everyone involved well.

But grace does not require the erasure of truth.

I have made peace with my past. I am grateful for my present. And I remain deeply hopeful about my future.

I hold fast to what I said, and I stand by it.

Meanwhile, I am preparing to record and produce a deeper conversation about the 10 things I’ve stated above. I’ll let you know soon how you can access it.

There are things that have stood too long.

Thoughts that have elevated themselves above truth.

Patterns that have outlived their season.
Cycles that have traveled through generations.
Wounds that have mistaken themselves for identity.

And sometimes…what feels like shaking is not attack.

It is demolition.

This at Inspirational Bible Church,
we declare The Great Takedown.

This is not your collapse. It is your clearance.

Not destruction, deliverance. Because, before God builds something new, He tears down what stood in the way.
