"Let us pray that sports be an instrument of peace, encounter, and dialogue among cultures and nations, and that they promote values such as respect, solidarity, and personal growth." -Pope Leo XIV

Let's join the Holy Father and Fr. Pat that all might find joy in sports.

Sometimes we think that June is "just" a month of Ordinary Time, but it's also packed with solemnities. Check out our video to learn more, and join us for Mass.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity celebrates the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and our call to reflect the unity and love shared within that divine relationship.

Our Holy Trinity parish traces its roots to the 1994 merger of three Norwood churches, a living sign of that same unity we are called to embody today.

Were you aware that there are seven African American candidates for canonization? The lives of these holy men and women span nearly the entire existence of the United States as an independent nation—from Pierre Toussaint, born in 1766, through Thea Bowman, who died in 1990. It will be a truly thrilling day when we celebrate the canonization of the first African American saint!
To grow awareness about the lives of the “Saintly Seven” during the coming months, the Archdiocesan Anti-Racism Task Force is organizing seven sessions throughout the archdiocese to talk about their lives, their causes for canonization, and the experience of black Catholics in this nation. The sessions will be live-streamed to enable everyone to join in the conversation and reflection, with corresponding features about the month’s presented candidate appearing in The Catholic Telegraph . The series concludes after eight months, in November, Black Catholic History Month—reminding us that a single month is not sufficient to honor the contributions Black Catholics have made to our Church and our nation since before its founding.
The series begins with the story of Pierre Toussaint, read about Pierre in The Catholic Telegraph or online at thecatholictelegraph.com/venerable-pierre-toussaint-a-life-of-charity-and-courage

These four words sum up the Last Supper and the Eucharist, but they also sum up our own story. Each of us has been plucked from the life of sin, blessed through the sacraments, broken by our earthly suffering, and given to others for the salvation of the world. If we are the Body of Christ, we too undergo a radical change. We, too, are figures in salvation history, right here at Crescent Parishes.

Memorial Day is an important time to pause and pray for members of the military who have died in service to our country. All of us at Crescent Parishes are grateful for their sacrifice, and pray that our world may know peace.

What does it mean to be a Christian? Certainly, it means to believe in Jesus Christ; that he is the Son of God, that he was crucified and rose from the dead, and that he is the savior of all mankind.

But in today's Gospel, Jesus makes it clear that Christianity is about more than just believing in him. It is about becoming like him. "As the Father has sent me, so I send you." Being a Christian literally means being committed to the same mission of Jesus: bringing salvation to the world.

But can we, mere humans after all, truly carry on Christ's work under our own power? Of course, we can't, which is why he doesn't leave us alone. He sends us his very Spirit.

It is no coincidence that today, on Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate both the descent of the Holy Spirit and the founding of the Church. Why? Because they are inseparable. The Church's core identity is to be on mission, to evangelize, to spread the Gospel, and the Holy Spirit is the person who animates this great work.

So today, Crescent Parishes family, let's pray not only for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Let's also pray that we respond by carrying on Christ's mission.

Let's be honest, we might look at priests like Fr. Pat and think, "Must be easy to be holy when you live right next to the house of the Lord!" But through baptism, we are all "houses of the Lord" and, thus, able to gaze upon his beauty. No matter the physical location, we can always close our eyes and, through prayer, draw close to God.
