“Inmates prayed for each other! One who hadn’t laid hands before bravely volunteered to do so, was led in healing prayer for another, and witnessed back pain reduced from a 10-5. Another laid hands and prayed boldly. After speaking to the back pain—she then prayed for release of stress, guilt, and shame, with all women agreeing and weeping together. When we affirmed her gift of intercession, she said she had just asked God to speak like Jesus did! And He delivered!”

“After the teaching spontaneous baptisms broke out, I mentioned that someone had used a water bottle and a trash can. Someone else said what is stopping us from doing that today. One of the women went out and found water and a trash can. I asked who has given their life to Jesus and wants to be baptized, and almost every hand went up, and we began baptizing them one after another declaring them a new creation in Christ. Nine were baptized.”

“One man testified how God had gotten him off the streets and was using his incarceration to clean him up in body, soul and spirit. Raised in an alcoholic and drug addicted household, he had run the streets and lost his way altogether. God's loving care had begun to change his life when a Christian had picked him up from hitch-hiking and had then invited him to attend their church. He had discovered Jesus and began to find a family among the faithful there, but was still wrestling with addictions when he was later arrested for drugs. The family on the outside did not reject him, but was praying for him and receiving his calls, encouraging him to return when his time was completed.”

This month we are highlighting the wonderful worship teams from around the city who serve our brothers and sisters facing incarceration. We've received some wonderful testimonies that we're excited to share throughout the month!

“We had four men who were eagerly seeking the Lord. One man named Jalen commented that he believed that the Lord brought him to River City so he could get closer to the Lord. He said, ‘I am locked up but I am happy.’”

We’re grateful for our worship teams! They help men and women who are incarcerated connect with people who care about them—and the God who loves them so much!
