Update from Krisy Ouellette about Pastor Ouellette.

There are some moments in life when words simply aren’t big enough.

This morning, as I look at Rene, I don’t just see a man getting stronger.

I see the goodness of God.
I see mercy.
I see answered prayer.

Just a few days ago, we were facing a life-and-death situation we didn’t even know was happening. There were significant bleeds in Rene’s brain, tremendous pressure, and his brain was being pushed toward the brain stem.

And yet, through every scan, every procedure, and every unknown, God has been there.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
—Psalm 23:1

The doctors originally told us Rene would most likely remain in ICU for five days.

In less than 48 hours, he was moved to a regular room.

Then yesterday, the CT scan showed that his brain, which had been pushed toward the brain stem, is now right where it is supposed to be.

Right where it is supposed to be.

“Look what the Lord hath done!”

They were also able to remove the drain from his head. His nurse could hardly believe he wasn’t in more pain and that the drain was already able to come out.

His vitals are stabilizing. He is still weak, and there is still a road ahead, but we are overwhelmed with gratitude.

And through all of this, Rene is still Rene.

Every doctor.
Every nurse.
Every technician.

He wants them to hear about Jesus.

They come in to care for him, and before they leave, he is telling them how good God has been.

And, of course, he sends them away with chocolate. 💞

A piece of chocolate in one hand.
A gospel tract in the other.

Even from a hospital bed, Rene has turned his room into a little mission field.

There have been moments of fear. God’s goodness has not meant that I was never afraid.

But He has kept bringing my heart back to His promises, His presence, and the truth that He is a very present help—not someday, not eventually, but today.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
—Psalm 46:1

There are still questions.
There are still things we don’t know.
There is still a road ahead.

But I am learning something in this valley that I hope I never forget:

I don’t need tomorrow’s answers to have today’s peace.

God already knows.

He knew before we knew.
He knew what every scan would show.
He knew how Rene’s body would respond.
And He knew exactly where He would meet us along the way.

In the middle of something that could have broken our hearts completely, God has given us a front-row seat to His faithfulness.

So today, I want to remember what we do know:

God is good.
God is faithful.
God is merciful.
God hears prayer.
God is still on His throne.

And we are deeply thankful for every doctor, nurse, and medical professional whose hands God has used to care for Rene.

Thank you to every person who has prayed, called, texted, and lifted Rene before the Lord.

“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”
—Psalm 126:3

Every answered prayer.
Every little mercy.
Every step forward.

To God belongs every bit of the glory.

…For This I Have Jesus 💞
