Twenty members of the Spring Grove family proudly attended the annual Alzheimer’s Association Fundraising Gala in downtown Cincinnati at the Hyatt Regency.

This inspiring evening brought together members of our community to raise critical funds for Alzheimer’s care and support, while advancing research toward a cure.

We are honored to stand alongside so many dedicated advocates in the fight against this disease. Join us in supporting this important mission—together, we can make a difference. 💜

Start small. A walk. A sunrise. A moment to yourself before the world gets loud.

Living fully doesn’t always mean going big. Sometimes it just means showing up for the day you’ve been given.

🌿 Spring Grove Notable Burials: John Dorman 🌿

Among those remembered at Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum is John Henry Dorman, a Civil War Medal of Honor recipient who served as a Seaman in the United States Navy. Dorman earned the nation’s highest military honor for his bravery while serving aboard the USS Carondelet during key Union operations along the Mississippi River, including actions at Fort Henry in 1862 and during the Siege of Vicksburg in 1863.

Stories like Dorman’s remind us of the dedication and sacrifice shown by so many who have served.

This Military Appreciation Month, and every month, we pay tribute to their legacy.

🧠 Trivia Time 🧐

Keeping our cemetery grounds pristine is no small task! Can you guess how many days it takes our mowing crew to trim and maintain the entire property?

Under normal conditions, a team of 22-26 grounds crew members works tirelessly, taking seven days to complete a full mowing and trimming cycle. But during the fast-growing season of early spring till Memorial Day, they speed up the rotation to just five days! 💪

Maintaining a serene and well-kept final resting place takes dedication, and we’re grateful for our hardworking team! 🙌

📚 Special thanks to our Spring Grove Docents for their dedication and research in preserving and sharing these fascinating details.

Step back in time at Spring Grove’s Gate and Carriage House 🏛️

Built in the Norman Gothic style by architect James Keys Wilson, this structure once welcomed the many visitors who arrived by carriage from Downtown Cincinnati in the late 1800s. It even included a space where women could freshen up after their journey—a thoughtful touch for its time.

Did you know? Spring Grove was once such a popular weekend destination that visitors were required to show entrance tickets to prove they had relatives here to visit.

Today, this historic gatehouse stands as a beautiful reminder of the cemetery’s long tradition as a place of reflection, community, and architectural grace.
