Dear Friends,
This Sunday 7 March we'll explore some more of the sayings from the Gospel of Thomas. We had such a great time discussing the sayings last week that we only got through the first 3.
To catch up those of you who missed last week -- these words were allegedly penned by one Dydimus Judas Thomas -- sometimes called Jesus' twin. (NOT St Thomas) It is said he followed Jesus around and essentially transcribed all that Jesus said. It is the earliest of the known gospels. It is also regarded as more rooted in the Gnostic Christian faith than in what is now viewed as orthodox Christian beliefs.
Some scholars believe this "lost" gospel was used as a reference source by those who wrote Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It's easy to see why, and to discover the differences between Thomas' quotes of Jesus and what the others wrote.
And of course there will be messages from the Spirit provided to everyone in attendance.
