Father’s Column – April 2026

Surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia! Frohe Ostern! Buona Pasqua! Christos Anesti! Christos Voskrese! Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen! With great joy I offer you Easter greetings on behalf of the Oratory Fathers, Brothers, and Parish Staff. After the labors of Lent, the Church now bursts forth in the light of the Resurrection. What we have prayed, fasted, and sacrificed for these past forty days now gives way to the triumph of Christ, who has conquered sin and death and opened for us the way to eternal life....

Happy Feast of St. Joseph

Today we celebrate the Feast of Saint Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Protector of the Universal Church. On this same day, we also mark the ninth anniversary of the canonical establishment of the Cincinnati Oratory. With gratitude, we give thanks to God for all those who have helped us along this path—from the beginning until now. We remember in our prayers those who have gone before us, and we entrust to His providence all those whom He will yet send. Please continue to pray for us, and especially for vocations, through the powerful intercession of St. Joseph.

Father’s Column – March 2026

“And when you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by men but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:16–18)...

Father’s Column – February 2026

The Church dedicates the month of February to the Holy Family, and it is fitting that she does so at this quieter point in the year. The feasts and joy of Christmastide have passed, and yet the Lord remains hidden—living a life of obedience, work, prayer, and fidelity within the home of Nazareth. These years of silence were not incidental....

Sacred Heart Boiler

On Thursday, the boiler at Sacred Heart went down. This has only affected the church. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like a fix will be quick. Mass will continue as usual tomorrow, but note that the temperature in the church is between 40 and 45 degrees, depending on the time of day. Masses tomorrow will be un-sung and efficient. We will assess the situation again on Monday and try to get a better timeline for a fix and our options. Masses beginning on Friday, February 6 will most likely be relocated to the parish hall until the boiler is fixed. Watch here for more updates.

Father’s Column – January 2026

The month of January opens for us beneath the bright, yet gentle light of the Epiphany. After the quiet of Bethlehem and the hidden years of Nazareth, the Church now lifts her voice to proclaim that the Child born of the Virgin is not for Israel alone, but for all nations. The Magi, guided by the star, represent the long pilgrimage of the Gentile world toward Christ....
