On Sept 22nd, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln introduced the Emancipation Proclamation, declaring “that all persons held as slaves within the rebellious states are, and henceforward shall be free.”
ㅤ
Despite going into effect Jan 1st, 1863, there were areas that violated this order, and it was not until June 19th, 1865, that the Proclamation was read to those still enslaved in the state of Texas.

As Christ-followers, we celebrate all forms of freedom given the fact that through Christ, we ourselves are able to walk in freedom every day!
