Dear Members and Friends of New Day,
As many of you know, Pastor Carrie announced her retirement effective August 2, 2026.
Over the course of the last few months, the West Ohio Conference and Great Miami River District have worked diligently to find the right person as our next pastor. That decision has been made! The Admin Team is excited to introduce to you our next Senior Pastor of New Day UMC, Jason Taylor. Jason will be joining us as our Senior Pastor and will also be sharing part of his time with Montfort Heights UMC, where he will continue his Fresh Expressions programs. Besides leading New Day in worship each Sunday, Jason will be bringing enthusiasm, expertise and passion for community outreach and inclusion as New Day moves into its new chapter. When our District Superintendent Suzanne Allen introduced Jason to us, it was evident to all of us that Jason will be an amazing addition to lead New Day. He shares the same passion that we do, which is to be a church for people who are almost done with church but not done with Jesus.
Jason is currently serving as the Fresh Expressions Pastor at Monfort Heights United Methodist Church (August 2019-present). Prior to a career in ministry, he served on the athletic training staff at Colerain High School from 2005-2019. He is a graduate of Marietta College in Marietta, OH, with a B.S. in Athletic Training in 2005. He received his MDiv from United Theological Seminary in 2022. Originally from Madison Township, just west of Middletown, OH, he now resides in the Monfort Heights/White Oak area with his wife Melinda, and two sons, Brooks (age 15) and Declan (age 14). Jason knows the westside!!
His ministry experience includes planning and leading both traditional and contemporary worship services. His passion is in the area of outreach, mission, and Fresh Expressions of church. Some examples of Fresh Expressions he leads or oversees include:
- Tap Into Faith - a twice monthly worship experience at West Side Brewing
- Fit6:19 - a crossfit based fitness ministry, Community Dinner - a weekly dinner
church experience, and
- Blessing Bags -a twice monthly food pantry/grocery give away that has evolved
into serving breakfast and includes a devotional component.
There are many others, but these are a few examples.
As Jason shared with us at our meeting, he is driven by a desire to share the love and grace of God with those who may not have experienced it yet, or with those who have been told the wrong story about who Jesus is.
What began as a Jesus-sized dream we realized was actually a Jesus-sized calling to start His church at New Day. God has been unbelievably faithful and has blessed us beyond measure as we have embarked on this journey of New Day. Jason will continue to build on the great foundation that Pastor Carrie laid at New Day. We truly believe that God continues to work His miracles at New Day, and we are excited that Pastor Jason will be leading us into our next chapter.
Please join us on September 20 for worship at 10:00 am to meet Pastor Jason!
It’s a New Day at New Day!
