Too often we assign good singing, skilled instrumentalists, and even emotions such as excitement with great worship.

But true worship comes with reverence towards the Lord. It comes with revelation of who God is. As the mystery of God has been revealed to us, we worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Satan desires to steal our reverence with not only the temptations of the world, but also with seeds of pride in our hearts that say that we are responsible for anything good and lasting. Seeds that say that all that we need, we can produce on our own. That we don’t need The Source, but that we can be our own source.

These things can stir in our hearts to cause us to forget in our minds all that God had done for us!

James 4:6 tells us that God resists the proud but brings grace to the humble. When we humble ourselves before God, when we submit to Him and resist the deceit of the enemy, Satan flees and God draws near.

Let’s desire deeper encounters with God, and establish the way of these encounters by lowering ourselves and lifting Him up in true praise and worship!
