The Little Miami Ward from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has officially counted its first collection of shoes for the Cincinnati Ohio East Stake shoe drive supporting Impacting Tomorrow through JustServe—and what an amazing start!

Members were challenged to help reach a Stake-wide goal of 250 pairs of shoes, and Little Miami Ward is already making a difference. ❤️

From kids helping sort and organize to stacks of shoes filling boxes and bins, this is what service looks like when a church community comes together!

A huge THANK YOU to the members of the Little Miami Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for stepping up and making a difference in our community!

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout the Cincinnati Ohio East Region — from Morrow, Ohio to Maysville, Kentucky — recently came together to support Impacting Tomorrow (Loveland, Ohio) through JustServe.

The goal was simple: collect 250 pairs of shoes for a Shoe Drive.

What started as a quick weekend service drive turned into an incredible outpouring of generosity.

In just 10 days, 407 pairs of shoes were collected!

The shoes were delivered to Impacting Tomorrow, where the organization’s team was amazed and incredibly grateful for the generosity of the local Latter-day Saint community.

The Church’s Area Leaders met with Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Davis, who took them on a tour of their facility to learn more about the organization and its impact within the Ohio community.

Impacting Tomorrow provides resources including:

🥫 Food assistance
👕 Clothing
🩺 Health Source
🧑‍🦽 Occupational Therapy
👶 Diapers and feminine hygiene products through Women’s Source
👟 Shoes and other essential items

The 407 pairs of shoes will help provide something many families need but may not always be able to afford — a basic necessity that can make a meaningful difference.

And the service doesn't stop with the shoe drive.

Impacting Tomorrow has ongoing needs for shoes and other essential items, as well as opportunities for volunteers to serve directly. Volunteers can assist in the boutique, check out clients, organize and sort clothing, pack bulk clothing orders, and help with other day-to-day needs.

What began as a simple weekend challenge became a powerful example of what can happen when members of a community come together to serve.

In 1994, Congress declared Martin Luther King Jr. Day a National Day of Service.

Every year since, volunteers across the nation unite to lift one another through kindness, support, and purposeful service. This January, join the movement to uplift, inspire, and Be Great—by simply choosing to serve.

This month we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. taught that everyone has the power to make a difference—through peaceful action, courageous voices, loving service, and unity. His message fits beautifully with our shared discipleship as followers of Jesus Christ, who calls us to reach outward, lift the weary, and care for one another.

“When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”
— Mosiah 2:17

The Savior also reminds us:
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
— Matthew 5:9

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is more than a remembrance—it is a call to action. This is a time to ask ourselves: How can I reach out? How can I speak up? How can I serve? Whether through volunteering, attending a community event, helping a neighbor, or standing for kindness and justice, every effort—big or small—helps move the world forward.

Across our region, there are many opportunities to come together and commemorate Dr. King’s legacy of peace, service, justice, and love for one another:
