We invite you to read this very important letter from Archbishop Casey and ask that you keep all of our migrant and immigrant brothers and sisters in your prayers as we walk together in faith.

Earlier this week, on the occasion of the planned expiration of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians, Archbishop Robert G. Casey released a Statement Regarding the Dignity and Respect of Our Migrant Brothers and Sisters. This was shared with our Haitian brothers and sisters in Springfield on Sunday and delivered at the ecumenical "Here We Stand" gathering in the city the next day. Archbishop Casey is sharing his statement to encourage dignity and respect, mercy and compassion to everyone, including our migrant neighbors.

Come for a blessing of throats at St. Teresa of Avila at 7 AM and St. Lawrence at 12:00 noon.

On February 3, the Feast Day of St. Blaise, the Church recalls the miracle cure associated with St. Blaise and celebrates the blessing of the throats with candles. St. Blaise said that anyone who lit a candle in his memory would be free of infection, thus, candles are used in the traditional throat blessing. The candles (blessed on Candlemas Feb. 2) are crossed against the throat, and the following prayer is said: "Through the intercession of Saint Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from ailments of the throat and from every other evil. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."⁣
Blessing of throats will take place at the end of Masses at 7:00 AM, 11:30 AM and 5:15 PM at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains.

Happy Feast Day of St. John Bosco!

Happy Feast Day of St. John Bosco!

Today, January 31, we celebrate the Feast of St. John Bosco, the beloved patron of our parish family.

St. John Bosco dedicated his life to forming young people in faith, joy, and love — meeting them where they were, believing fiercely in who God was calling them to become, and building community rooted in kindness, trust, and hope. His spirit reminds us that holiness grows in relationship, that unity is built through love, and that the Church flourishes when we walk together.

As one parish family under his patronage, may we continue to be a place where faith is alive, young people are known and loved, and every person belongs.

St. John Bosco,
father and friend to the young,
you gathered people together with patience, joy, and faith.

Intercede for our parish family.
Unite our hearts across generations, cultures, and communities.
Help us to walk together with trust, to listen with compassion,
and to love with the generous heart of Christ.

May our family of parishes be a home of welcome,
a school of faith, and a place where joy is shared.
Guide us as one body, strengthened by the Spirit,
so that all we do may lead others to Christ.

St. John Bosco, pray for us. Amen.

Happy Feast Day, Parish Family — pray for us, St. John Bosco!

Today we honor Martin Luther King Jr.
A man who reminded our nation that faith, love, and justice belong together—and that peace begins in the human heart.

As Catholics, we recommit ourselves to building a world rooted in dignity, mercy, and unity.

Let us pray:
God of justice and peace,
You created every person in Your image.
Strengthen us to love without limits,
to stand against injustice,
and to be instruments of Your peace.
May our words and actions reflect Your mercy,
today and always. Amen.
