At the New River Valley (NRV) Seventh-day Adventist Church, located in Christiansburg, Southwest Virginia, we are a family of firm believers that everyone can understand the Bible to find Freedom, Healing, and Hope in Jesus Christ. We serve the people and the communities of Christiansburg, Blacksburg, the New River Valley, and all of the surrounding areas. Currently, our Pastor is Dr. Amilcar “AJ” Gröschel, Jr. (JD, PhD). Pastor AJ Gröschel is a 5th generation Seventh-day Adventist Preacher, Missionary & Church Leader. After serving for 20+ years in Brazil and in 4 different continents as a Pastor, Chaplain and Teacher, University Dean, Academic Executive, and Professor, also as a Corporate Attorney and Senior Partner, in 2019 Pastor AJ and his wife - Mrs. Camila Gröschel - were called by the Potomac Conference to serve as the Regional (District) Lead Pastor for the SDA Churches in Southwest Virginia.

Pastor AJ holds advanced degrees in Systematic Theology, Philosophy & Ethics, Corporate Governance, Business, and Law. Mrs. Camila is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Midwife in Brazil, specializing in Women’s Health, now working on her transition to practice nursing in the US. Their family is blessed with two teens - Amanda (17 years old) and Michael (15 years old) who study at an Adventist Academy in Brazil. The family enjoys traveling, being in nature, animals, and playing sports.
