Our All Sufficient Savior
Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus's baptism was the divine inauguration of His redemptive mission, revealing Him as the all-sufficient mediator between God and His people. Through this event, heaven is opened, the Holy Spirit descends like a dove, and the Father declares Jesus His beloved Son, affirming His divine authority, qualification, and mission to bring justice without crushing the broken. The passage underscores the necessity of Jesus' obedience to fulfill all righteousness, establishing Him as the authorized, empowered, and humble mediator between God and man who identifies with human weakness while bearing the full weight of divine justice on the cross. Ultimately, the baptism of Jesus is a theological declaration: Jesus is the one in whom the Father is well pleased, and to whom all of life and eternity must be entrusted.

Everything Is Going According to Plan
Matthew 2:13-23

Matthew's narrative in chapters 1 and 2 presents a profound portrait of divine providence—marked by unexpected lows intertwined with divine highs—where the Messiah's birth, flight to Egypt, and eventual settlement in Nazareth unfold as part of God's sovereign, redemptive plan. Though Joseph and Mary endure fear, heartbreak, and confusion, including the massacre of Bethlehem's children and the displacement of their family, Matthew affirms that every event fulfills God's purposes for history and redemption. God's faithfulness is not measured by ease or triumph, but by His presence in suffering, where even the obscure, rejected, and despised life of Jesus in Nazareth embodies the true, obedient Son who fulfills the hopes of Israel and advances God's eternal covenant. Ultimately, the passage calls believers to trust God's providence not only in times of clarity, but especially in the midst of mystery, sorrow, and disappointment, knowing that every trial is part of a greater, good, and eternal plan.

How To Prepare for the Lord's Day
Isaiah 58:13-14

The Lord's Day is a divine gift designed for both God's glory and the believer's spiritual benefit. Worship and rest on the Lord's Day require intentional preparation, turning away from self-directed living, and recognizing the Lord's Day not as a burden but as a sacred opportunity for rest, renewal, and communion with God.

Pursuing the Lord as a Church
Eph. 4:1-16

This sermon calls the church to pursue the Lord collectively by living in a manner worthy of Christ’s name, grounded in humility, gentleness, and patient forbearance toward one another. It emphasizes that true unity is not passive but requires active, intentional effort to maintain the bond of peace. The church is called not to be a consumer-driven institution seeking to meet individual needs, but a unified body where every member recognizes their indispensable role in building up the whole through the diverse gifts of the Spirit. These gifts are not reserved for clergy but are entrusted to all believers to equip the saints for ministry and to foster mutual edification. Ultimately, the church’s mission is not to grow through programs tailored to cultural preferences, but to faithfully steward the gifts God has given, trusting Him to build His church through the love, service, and unity of His people.

Pursuing the Lord as Family
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Preston Kelso

This sermon centers on the biblical call to pursue God as families, which is integral to the "Great Commandment" of Deuteronomy 6. It emphasizes that true obedience to God is not a solitary endeavor but a multi-generational, household-wide commitment involving diligent teaching of Scripture, consistent internalization of God's Word, and lived demonstration of faith through daily actions and relationships. This message underscores the importance of parental faithfulness in instructing children, modeling godly character, and fostering reconciliation, while also affirming that spiritual outcomes are ultimately in God's hands, not human control. The passage extends this vision beyond biological families to the broader church community, affirming that all believers—regardless of marital status, family structure, or life circumstance—are part of God's eternal family and called to mutual love, submission, and spiritual nurturing in Christ.

Abiding in Christ
John 15:1-11
Preston Kelso

This sermon encourages Christians to abide Christ as the true vine, emphasizing that genuine spiritual fruit—manifested as godly character with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—is not produced by human effort or religious activity, but flows naturally from a close, abiding relationship with Jesus.

Drawing from John 15, it teaches that fruit-bearing is not a prerequisite for belonging to Christ, but the inevitable result of being connected to the true vine, whose purpose is to glorify the Father through a life of joyful, Spirit-led obedience. Abiding in Christ involves persistent prayer, perseverance in trials, and daily surrender to Christ's will, not mere religious performance, and that the ultimate goal is not personal success or church growth, but the fullness of joy found in intimate union with Christ.

This sermon calls believers to abandon self-reliance, embrace the pruning of God's Word, and pursue Christ in every aspect of life, knowing that only in Him can lasting, meaningful fruit be produced.

The Pursuit of Wisdom
Proverbs 3:13-35
Preston Kelso

The central message of this sermon is that godly wisdom is the supreme treasure to pursue in life, surpassing wealth, knowledge, and temporal success. Rooted in Proverbs 3, the passage reveals that wisdom leads to everlasting life, divine protection, inner peace, and spiritual renewal, not merely earthly prosperity. Wisdom is not merely intellectual but transformative, shaping a life marked by humility, justice, and immediate compassion toward others—especially within the covenant community. Ultimately, the sermon points beyond the Old Testament wisdom to Jesus Christ, who is identified as the fulfillment of wisdom, the true Tree of Life, and the source of eternal life, regeneration, and divine favor. The call is not to pursue wisdom as an abstract ideal, but to pursue Christ, in whom all divine wisdom and blessing are found, transforming the believer's soul, securing their future, and enabling a life that reflects God's eternal purposes.

A Life Lived to the Glory of God
Proverbs 3:1-12
Preston Kelso

This sermon from Proverbs 3:1–12 presents wisdom not as an end in itself but as a means to man's true end- a life lived to the glory of God. It identifies three hallmarks of such a life: first, receiving God's Word as authoritative, both in private devotion and corporate worship; second, embodying that Word through faithful action, obedience, and trust in God's promises; and third, submitting to God's discipline by acknowledging Him in all decisions, surrendering personal wisdom, and recognizing all possessions and circumstances as stewardships. When believers fail to live up to this ideal, they are directed to remember that Christ perfectly fulfills all that Scripture demands, and through faith in Him believers are credited with His righteousness.

Seeking Christ Who Is Our Wisdom
Proverbs 2
Preston Kelso

Proverbs 2 calls believers not merely to pursue practical wisdom, but to seek the Wisdom Giver—Jesus Christ, who embodies divine wisdom and fulfills all that the book points toward. The passage emphasizes that true wisdom is found not in self-effort or intellectual achievement, but in a wholehearted pursuit of God through His Word, marked by humility, dependence, and sacrificial commitment. This pursuit leads not to earthly blessings alone, but to a transformative knowledge of God, including the fear of the Lord, righteousness, justice, and eternal fellowship with Him. Proverbs points forward to wisdom that culminates in Christ, who is both the perfect embodiment of wisdom and the means by which believers inherit God's covenant promises—forgiveness, righteousness, resurrection, and eternal life—through faith, not works. The ultimate goal is not wisdom as a tool, but union with Christ, the true treasure and fulfillment of all divine promises.
