This week we discovered that true joy flows from recognizing God's nearness and living by supernatural laws, not natural ones. When Paul and Silas sang hymns in prison chains, when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced the fiery furnace with peace, they demonstrated a joy anchored in God's character, not their comfort.
Colossians 1:9-14 reminds us that we're strengthened with all power for endurance and patience WITH JOY. The joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). This isn't mere happiness that fades when life gets hard. It's a deep-seated gladness rooted in God's presence, promises, and faithfulness.
Joy can coexist with sorrow. It strengthens us when life feels heavy. It's a discipline we cultivate through grateful reflection, rejoicing in Christ amid difficulties, and sharing kindness with others. When you're aware of the Holy Spirit in you, it will change your world.
