I recently showed the following video to our congregation. No one is saying that a woman cannot have a career; however, when children come along consider this: children can't raise themselves. Many adults will argue that both the husband and wife have to work because it's too expensive to live these days without two incomes. I would argue that it's only too expensive because you are trying to live a lifestyle you can't afford. Wealth isn't created overnight. It takes years of spending less and investing more.

Many people today talk about having a personal relationship with God. But what exactly does that mean? If it means we have God in our lives to give us our every want and desire, then we have made God into an idol. Instead, we need to be thinking about being in a covenant relationship with God. A covenant is an agreement we enter into by choice (repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins, confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you will be saved, justification by grace through faith, etc.).
Because of what Christ has done for us, we are part of that same covenant God made long ago with Israel. Look at the language Peter uses in I Peter 2:9-10 and compare it with the language used in Exodus 19:4-6. Jesus spoke of this covenantal relationship as well (see Matthew 7:21, John 14:15, John 14:23). No, our obedience isn’t the saving factor. We are saved because of what Christ has done for us. But even the thief on the cross had to come to Jesus on his terms and not his own – "Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Translation – I acknowledge your authority as king over my life and I’m willing to be a subject in your kingdom.

Good news. Since September, our little congregation in Chino Valley has almost tripled in size. We even have four teenagers attending :) Today two new people visited and are coming back next week and bringing food for our potluck. God has answered my prayer - send us people that we can teach your Word to.

Services tomorrow at 10:30, Chino Valley Church of Christ. I'm continuing my series on the Law of God. I started it because I'm concerned that many people don't think the Law of God is relevant. Some people don't even think they are sinners, but when we look into God's Law we realize that we have not been keeping it. This should make us appreciate all the more the grace and mercy of God, demonstrated in the sacrifice of his Son. If you need a congregation to be a part of in the New Year, come join us.

I have begun a new series at the church on the Law of God, that is, the Law of Moses as recorded in the Old Testament. Why did God give certain laws to Israel? What is the wisdom and rationale behind these laws? Which of those laws are we still accountable for obeying, or how might the principle behind a law apply to us? How might these laws be fulfilled in the life of Christ? Hope you can make it to our gatherings each Sunday 10:30 am to 12:00 noon.

I know some Christians might take offense (or shake their heads) when they see postings about the connection between Christianity and America. They may believe that Jesus never intended for his people to seek positions of political power, therefore, we should not be involved in government. They propose that God is all about giving mankind the ability to choose, therefore, we should not have laws prohibiting certain behaviors. They may take offense to people referring to this land as a Christian nation since our past actions haven’t always been Christ-like. If this describes you today, can you consider this one question? What’s the alternative? If you hold to Judeo/Christian values (and you don’t have to be a Christian to do that by the way), I would expect you would have the wisdom to govern righteously and with divine wisdom. Can we expect that from the ungodly? Dwight D. Eisenhower said that when he had a decision to make as President, he would listen to people on both sides of the political aisle, then base his decision on one question: “What is good for America?” If we want leaders to make decisions resulting in our good, we had better make sure they know the definition of the word. On the other hand, if all the “good” men do nothing, evil will accomplish its purpose (Ben Franklin – “All that is necessary for the accomplishment of evil is that good men do nothing.”) May God bless this sacred day in America. If you leave a comment, I will not reply. If you want to discuss, just message me.

Had 14 guests last Sunday to hear Aiden Brewer speak. He's a teen from Lake Havasu and was a great encouragement to us old people, ha! Anyway, we also had several visitors, some of whom expressed a desire to come back. It's good to see the Lord working in our little congregation. Join us Sunday at 10:30 am.

Join us for services Sunday June 12th at 10:30 am. We will be having a special guest speaker - one of the teens from the Lake Havasu congregation.

If you can make it to our services on June 12th, please do. We will be having a special teenage speaker - a youth from the Lake Havasu congregation named Aden Brewer. He's a very "on-fire" teen. Hope to see you there, June 12th, 10:30 am.
