Hello and Tashi Delek to Supporters of the Endowment

Reflecting back on 2018, we’d like to renew our thanks to our supporters, new and old, for all your support in 2018. Achieving our goal of a $2 Million dollar endowment to assist and offset operational costs of the Garchen Institute as it continues to grow is closer thanks to your continued support.

The Institute continues to expand, with its first phases of a new office and bathhouse. The work includes a new building for the office, bookstore and staff rooms and the conversion of the existing office to a dedicated bathhouse with more amenities. Maintenance of the many other buildings is a constant. The Institute has also added a covered walkway connecting the Temple with the old office building and cafeteria. While these changes are sure to benefit the visitors and staff at the institute, it increases the Institutes overhead and deepens the mission of the Endowment.

Below we share an update on the Endowment's value. We’re reaching out before years end looking for your help to boost our 2018 progress, so every little bit helps. As you likely know, the Endowment is a registered 501C3 non-profit, and your donations are tax deductible. Click here to find out several ways you can support the Endowment.

For The BENEFIT OF ALL BEINGS is an experiential immersion into the Tibetan Buddhist view of the world, as lived by His Eminence Garchen Triptrul Rinpoche. On this journey, we are exposed to Rinpoche’s unusual integration of heart-breaking adversity. He was wrathfully raised by his father, endured...

The celebration and consecration of our 3 year journey to raise funds for the endowment through the creation of the 37 Bodhisattva Practices Garden. The Garden is complete but fundraising to achieve our goal remains.

Bill O'Brien's speech at consecration
Thank you Garchen Rinpoche for consecrating the 37 Bodhisattva Practices Garden. Lamas and sangha thank you for being here on this auspicious day, on the eve of the Kilaya drubchen for this consecration of a very special area here at the Institute. A garden enshrining Gyalse Thogme Zangpo’s epic Mahayana treatise, propagated around the world & elucidated by our beloved guru, the 37 Bodhisattva Practices. This represents the non-dual union of the profound dharma, it's sangha and the earth. Blessing sentient beings indiscriminately by their proximity to, bearing witness to the garden of profound truth & by the contemplation of these verses which distills the essence of the Buddha dharma in a way that makes it understandable and profound for the simplest and scholarly alike.

I also want to use this time, to do something that doesn't happen very often. The recognition of a vajra sibling, their devotion, study, meditation and activity. This garden serves as a profound example of a yogin’s sincere refuge in the triple gem.
Refuge in the Buddha and all the nirmanakaya manifestations tethered by his unwavering devotion.
Refuge in the Dharma with his consistent study, contemplation and meditation of the holy spoken and written Dharma, reflected here, enshrined here with engraving of the 37 Bodhisattva Practices.
His Refuge in the sangha with this profound gift for your benefit, and all those whom travel from around the world to come to this holy place, and any being whom may come into contact with these engraved manifestations of devotion your connection is eternal.

Thank you to Will Evans and Mary Lou for your inspiring selfless activity. Thank you to everyone around the world that has contributed to this effort in any way. Our collective efforts have provided a substantial investment into the Southwest Buddhafield Endowment Fund. Whose mission is to financially support this holy land in perpetuity. The Endowment is still striving to achieve its original goal, so your support is still needed.

May generations of practitioners know this place, know the name of this simple and humble practitioner. Above all, may all find solace in knowing we have never been, nor will we ever be separated from the freedom of pure presence, our Buddha nature, our guru and bodhicitta. Emaho!
