Our ministry will be offering Morning Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours every half hour inside La Iglesia De Santa Cruz de la Canada the morning of Good Friday from 6:00am-9:00am for any pilgrims who’d like to stop by the church on their way to El Santuario de Chimayo. The prayer itself will take about 20 minutes and will be prayed every half hour.

This will be a beautiful opportunity to reflect on Christ’s Passion if you’re on pilgrimage or to spend time in prayer before heading to work.

As we prepare to enter Holy Week, we wanted to invite you to the Santuario de Chimayo this coming Monday, April 3rd, to pray the Stations of the Cross in the church at 6:00pm.

We will be attending mass with Father Sebastian at Holy Family Parish following the stations at 7:00pm. Hope you can join us. 🙏🏼

“Walking with Jesus will always be a grace and a risk.

It is a grace, because it is a commitment to live by faith and to know Jesus, entering into the depths of his heart, understanding the power of his words and the significance of his actions.

His tender nearness. His generous sacrifice. His love for each and every one of us, by which he as the Suffering Servant, took upon himself the mysterious journey of humanity, so often marked by the sign of the cross.”
-Pope Francis (World Youth Day-Panama 2019)

Last night we had the opportunity to witness Archbishop Wester bless the Holy Oils that would be dispersed throughout the archdiocese for the coming year. We also got to watch Father Javier, Father Sebastian, Father Nathan, as well as many other priests and deacons in our archdiocese renew their vows to serve God’s people as clergy. If that wasn’t beautiful enough, we also got to see our very own member, Adriana, sign the mass for the deaf community.

For most us, this was the first time we had ever attended the Chrism Mass and we were thankful we got to experience it together. 🙏🏼

Litany of Praise (Jesus, Remember Me)

Jesus, remember me, when you come into your kingdom.

Jesus, show us the road to greater love. R.
Jesus, reveal to us the way of generosity. R.
Jesus, you prayed for those who crucified you. R.
Jesus, help us forgive without counting the cost. R.
Jesus, to the repentant thief you promised paradise. R.
Jesus, strengthen me despite my little faith. R.
Jesus, purify my heart with your love. R.
Jesus, your Word is near, may it live forever. R.

We will be concluding lectio divina tomorrow evening with the Prayer Before the Cross in preparation of the Lenten season. This is a beautiful opportunity to come to terms with the spiritual deserts we may be experiencing at a personal level and is a time to ponder how we want to grow our faith through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

As always, the community is welcome to join us. We will be at the Santa Cruz Meeting room adjacent to the Marian Hall at 6:30pm.

The Lord is kind and merciful.
Psalm 103

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
and all my being, bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.

He pardons all your iniquities,
heals all your ills.
He redeems your life from destruction,
crowns you with kindness and compassion.

Merciful and gracious is the LORD,
slow to anger and abounding in kindness.
Not according to our sins does he deal with us,
nor does he requite us according to our crimes.

As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he put our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.

Nathan recently came back from a trip to Arizona. He got to visit some beautiful churches during his visit, including one he used to attend as a child before his family moved back to New Mexico. Here’s what he had to say about his trip in his own words:

Last week while visiting Arizona, I had the opportunity to visit two beautiful churches. The Chapel of the Holy Cross, located in Sedona, is a beautiful chapel that is built into to the famous red rocks in the area. Saint Andrew the Apostle, located in Chandler is a parish that was established in 1996 which my parents are recognized in gratitude for helping establish the parish family.

Last week our ministry had the opportunity to celebrate Father Sebastion Lee’s 25th Ordination Anniversary with Holy Family Parish in Chimayó.

Father Sebastion has been a big supporter of our ministry, often inviting us over for dinner and offering to expose the Blessed Sacrament for adoration during Taizé.

Thank you for everything you do for our community, bringing the good news of the Gospel to each of us through your contagious joy and beautiful sense of humor. We love you, Padre!

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”
Isaiah 43:1
