⛪️ MEET OUR MEMBERS ⛪️

Rick and Nancy Breidenbaugh have been married for sixty years! They have four children, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. They have been Christians since February 13, 1972.

Nancy has retired from several U.S. government positions, but she still works with Rick in his ministry. Rick has been preaching since 1974. He established Gospel Defender Ministries in 1980 (www.gospel-defender.org). Both have labored in church in many different ministries in many different states. They have Christian brethren everywhere but are especially close to those at the Scioto Valley Church of Christ.

Both are lovers of books and still believe the Bible is the most important of all.

⛪️ MEET OUR MEMBERS ⛪️

Seth and Leah were both baptized in 2008, they have been blessed so far with 18 years of marriage and 4 beautiful children. Saige is a highschool student, she loves all things crime, softball and soccer. Clifford is homeschooled with his brothers and enjoys baseball, football and drawing. Jeffery loves being outdoors, working on things and playing instruments. Rowan is wild and rambunctious, he enjoys building things, reading books and playing soccer. Seth is a train engineer at Norfolk southern and leah stays at home and has homeschooled for 6 years. She loves reading and drawing and being outside. They all love going on hikes, fishing, spending time with family/friends and having campfires.

They all have different favorite verses but Ephesians 4:2-3 is a family favorite. It says, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

It reminds them that peace and unity do not happen by accident but are built daily through small choices to choose patience over frustration.

They love their church because they know they will fail sometimes but the church will hold them accountable with love and direction pointing to Christ and his true word.

⛪️ MEET OUR MEMBERS ⛪️

Raylon has been a baptized believer since 2008. He grew up in northern Ohio but has lived in Chillicothe for around 15 years.

His favorite Bible verses are Ephesians 4:29, Proverbs 16:24 and Proverbs 17:22 and his favorite book of the Bible is Job, but also loves Paul’s letters.

He loves praying and is diligent especially to pray for other people. In his free time he likes to work out, encourage others, eat desserts, and follow any and all basketball.

His favorite things about the Lord are His mercy, grace and how the Lord adopts and cares for His children.

⛪️ MEET OUR MEMBERS ⛪️

Alfred and Rhonda Marcus and their two sons, Quinton and Micah, moved here from Philadelphia in 2006. Alfred is a full time chaplain at CCI and has been ministering to the men there for 17 years. Rhonda works from home and loves how much flexibility she has that lets her still do all of the mom stuff. Micah is currently at Chillicothe Middle School and is active in drama, choir, and band (he currently plays the saxophone and the bass in orchestra). Quinton currently works full time and is saving as much money as he can in hopes to start his own business within a few years. He answers the question, “how tall are you” a minimum of 2183 times a day (he is 6’ 7”). 😂

The Marcuses love the Scioto Valley church of Christ because the people there feel like family and because the preaching and teaching focuses on being true to the Bible.

If they had a family motto, it would be, “Love God. Love others. If you do that, the rest will work itself out.”

⛪️ MEET OUR MEMBERS ⛪️

Ashley says: I have been blessed with a wonderful husband of 23 years, three daughters, and a grandson who has brought even more joy to our family. Spending time with my family is one of my greatest blessings. I also enjoy gardening, camping, being outdoors, and staying active through boxing and high-intensity workouts.

I currently teach middle school Reading and ELA at Ross County Christian Academy. I love working with young people and believe that teaching is more than helping students grow academically—it is an opportunity to encourage them, build relationships, and point them toward Christ.

My faith in Jesus is the foundation of my life and continues to guide me through every season. One of my favorite verses is 2 Peter 3:18: “…but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.” This verse reminds me that we are never finished growing and that God can use every experience—and every person we meet—to teach us something. My greatest desire is for my words, choices, and service to others to reflect the love of Christ.

⛪️ MEET OUR MEMBERS ⛪️

Jody says: I have been blessed to be a nurse for 31 years, a career that has given me the opportunity to care for others and make a difference in their lives. My greatest blessings, however, are my four grown children, whom I am incredibly proud of and the people they have become, and my five beautiful grandchildren, who bring so much joy to my heart.

Two years ago, I became a widow, and during one of the most difficult seasons of my life, I turned to my faith. My relationship with God has given me strength, comfort, and hope and continues to guide me each day. My family and my faith are the most important things in my life.

One of my favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 41:10: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.” This verse is a beautiful reminder that I am never alone, and that God gives me the strength to face whatever life brings.

⛪️ MEET OUR MEMBERS ⛪️

Jake and Allison Smith have been married since 2013. Their family is made up of Eden (10) Ezra (8) AJ (3) Dexter (13) Hugo (7) Betty (5) Jasper (4) and Brave Cat (3). They’d have more animals if they could. They love that they live right in the center of Chillicothe but have a property that feels like it is in the middle of nowhere - it’s the best of both worlds. Jake works with a concrete business and Allison recently left her job at a daycare in order to be a stay at home mom.

They love the outdoors and have always emphasized how important it is to find God in nature and all living things everywhere. They love taking their dogs on hikes and foraging for different plants in their woods.

As a family, their favorite Bible stories have always been Jesus calming the storm and His temptation in the wilderness. They’ve found the lessons taught in them helpful so many times. They love that their kids have friends their own ages at the Scioto Valley church of Christ.

⛪️ MEET OUR MEMBERS ⛪️

Gage and Andrea Mills have called Waverly home for the past 11 years and have been worshiping in the Chillicothe area for about 14 years. Their crew consists of Gage, Andrea, Benjamin, Bexley, and Bristol.

Gage is a teacher at Unioto and serves as the preacher here. Andrea is a dietitian at DCI. Benjamin is a serious baseball player who has dreams of someday playing for the Cincinnati Reds! Bexley loves to dance, dress up, and be as fancy as possible. Bristol currently has two main priorities in life: eating everything she can get her hands on and getting into places she shouldn’t . She has also recently discovered Moana, which means the Mills family has watched it approximately 17 times in the last month. As a family, the Mills’ enjoy swimming, going for walks, watching movies, and attempting to play board games.

Gage’s favorite Bible verse is Micah 6:8:
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Andrea’s favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

One of the things the Mills family loves most about Scioto Valley church of Christ is that it is made up of flawed people trying to serve a perfect Savior. Nobody here has it all figured out, but the people genuinely care about Jesus, care about one another, and want to follow Him faithfully. That’s the kind of church family the Mills’ are thankful to call home.
