Our Present Church
The project of the er****on of the sanctuary used today actually began in October, 1939.
The pastor at that time, the Rev. Fred C. Stein, interested the students of Chillicothe Business College, as well as others, in accumulating a large collection of vari-colored rocks from all over the United States. As these rocks were collected, they were piled behind the parsonage at 906 Walnut Street.
Scores of rocks, large and small, came from all parts of the nation -- from the top of Pike's Peak, the top of Mt. Evans, the Black Hills, from the bed of Roaring River, from old Spanish diggings in the Southwest, and from many places in Canada. By April, 1942, when work was started on the new church, there was approximately 110 - 112 tons of rocks, which had been stockpiled.
After two years and four months of labor, the building of the sanctuary was completed. Te sanctuary was dedicated on August 6, 1944, with 600 persons in attendance.
