Hello from YWAM Chico!

So here it is October, and we are still in this pandemic. At YWAM Chico we are committed to Discipleship Training Schools. Although the Crossroads DTS did not run this year, mainly due to lack of enrollment, God continued to put DTS on my heart.

Instead of staffing adults and families in Crossroads, God has moved me into working with children once again. Now it’s with the Foundation School in the Family DTS.

I am enjoying this transition immensely. I am working with 5-7 year olds. They are learning the same things that their parents are learning such as ā€œHearing God’s Voice,ā€ ā€œFather Heart of God,ā€ and ā€œBiblical Worldviewā€ only at their level. I guess God knew at this point in life that it would be easier for me. 😊

God also knows my desire to go to Uganda. The Family DTS has asked me to lead an outreach this winter back to Uganda. I could not be happier. We will be leaving on December 6th, and returning at the end of January. I am taking a team of 13 people including one family with four daughters, ages 7-15, one family with two daughters, ages 10 and 12, and a single mom with an 8 year old son. The single mom is my partner at Bubbling Brook Ministry, Trish. This is a first for both of us, but God will be leading the way.

Please join me in prayer during this new season. I will need a lot of wisdom, strength and grace. Also I will need some financial partners in preparing to go to Uganda. If you would like to be part of my team here’s how you can do that.

This summer I had the privilege of once again doing day camp with the children at YWAM Chico. This year I was blessed to have another YWAM staff volunteer plan and teach the older group of children so that everyone could be included. It was a great week!

Hello Bubbling Brook friends,
Well here we are at the end of June and still in the midst of COVID pandemic. Social distancing, shelter in place and wearing masks are becoming the norm rather than just a brief moment in time. Although we may be wondering how much longer will this go on, we can continue to trust that God knows exactly how long as well as what He wants to accomplish through it. The busyness of life has slowed way down and we all have the opportunity to spend more time really thinking about the more important things in life, like our relationships. It also is a time to reflect on all the things we have to be grateful for that maybe we had taken for granted.

God has used this time here at YWAM Chico to bring about a major change in our focus and ministry. No longer are we a Christian conference center and a Youth With A Mission base, but we are now "Unapologetically Missional". This is a big leap of faith as much of the bases income came from hosting conferences, but we are trusting God to supply our needs and move this into a time where our schools will expand and grow.

Speaking of schools, that's my next news item. During my time of reflection last winter, God began to speak to my heart about change. Not that I was to give up the desire or mission of running Bubbling Brook Preschool, but that I was to expand the ministry to include others so that I would have other opportunities. With that said I am going to be staffing the Crossroads Discipleship Training School (CDTS) this fall. I'm so excited to be stepping into this for a season! The great thing is that I know it's His plan for me as He provided another teacher to partner with me in teaching at Bubbling Brook. Trish is a lovely Jamaican woman who recently came on staff here and loves teaching preschool. She has years of experience and we both feel blessed to be working as a team.

So this is my story for now. I hope you will continue to pray for me during this time and remember that even in times of uncertainty we can trust God is still in control!

Hello friends of Bubbling Brook & Beyond! What a time we are living in right now with COVID-19 changing everything we once knew. As you can imagine the preschool is suspended for now as YWAM Chico is following state restrictions and honoring shelter at home. This is very challenging in a large community like ours, but we are doing our best. I am praying for an end to this crisis soon and once again being able to spend time with the children in my life.

I want to apologize also for not posting and keeping those following this page informed. This past six months as been pretty rough for me. Myself and my daughter Becca went to Uganda in late October on what was to be a four month trip where I would do new training with "Preschool in a Suitcase" as well as return to previous sights to check on progress. But God had other plans. I was able to do two sessions before we received word that my mom had suffered a stroke and died. Needless to say the trip ended and we got the first available flight home. This was only three weeks into the trip.

The months of December and January I went back to Central Oregon and stayed with my dad as he began to make the hard transition to living alone. It was a blessed time of getting to know each other in a deeper sense. I was also able to spend Christmas with family and I was grateful for that.

February I returned to my Chico home and began to make my way back to what God has called me to do...be in missions. I know this is a year of reflection and renewal for me and now it becomes one of rest as well. I am looking to the future though and to see what God has planned for me.

Thank you for taking time to read this update. I will try to do better this coming year with in posting in Bubbling Brook & Beyond. Until then may God bless you and keep well safe!

Good morning from Arua Uganda! My daughter Becca and I have been in country now for three weeks and are enjoying it so much. The first 10 days were spent in Kampala at Mercy for Life Africa. I was asked to provide a training for local Sunday school teachers which was totally unexpected but God used it to open up even more opportunities to do trainings in Kampala. God has completely shifted my plans around this trip and in the process taught me lessons about truly following HIS lead. One of the main changes is the need to return to USA a month earlier than expected. Our 90 day visas expire on January 22 and extending them is just not an option so our timeline is different. Still the work we are prepared to do will be accomplished just in HIS way not mine!
Please continue to hold us up in prayer especially for physical strength. Adjustments to food, water and rainy weather take a toll. Thanks for your support! Enjoy these pictures of some of the children we are blessed to meet.

The time has come to say goodbye to my sweet preschoolers here at Bubbling Brook for a season and hello to the Beyond part of this ministry. I’m heading back to Uganda with my daughter Becca for extended period of four months. During that time we will check into places that I have done my Preschool in a Suitcase training to see how things are going. We will also be going to new areas and doing several more Teacher training there.
I’m excited about this opportunity to go once again and so happy that Becca is looking forward to returning as well. This will be the first time that I have traveled without being in a large group so I am a little anxious but thankfully I know that
God goes before me and also covers my back!
Please keep us in your prayers over the next few months, especially over the holidays. I will try to post occasionally also.
