It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved First Lady, Sis. Gwen Walter.

Sis. Walter was one of the most loving, caring, and genuine people you could ever meet. Most importantly, she was a faithful child of God and a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church. She had a heart for serving and could be found doing whatever was needed; from teaching our teenagers in Sunday School, helping the cooks in the kitchen, and leading praise and worship, to making sure she greeted everyone with a warm smile each Sunday.

Sis. Walter had a special way of making people feel welcomed and loved. Her spirit, kindness, and willingness to serve touched so many lives, and New Hope will not be the same without her.

While her loving spirit will be deeply missed, she will never be forgotten. Her love, her faith, and the memories she created with so many of us will forever remain in our hearts.

And in the words she so lovingly shared with us: “We love you, God loves you, and there’s nothing you can do about it!”

We love you, Sis. Gwen. You will forever be in our hearts. ❤️
