Congregación Sagrada

Levítico 23:1-3
El SEÑOR le dijo a Moisés:
2 “Habla a los israelitas y diles: ‘Estas son mis fiestas señaladas, las fiestas señaladas del SEÑOR, las cuales ustedes proclamarán como santas convocaciones.’

Sagrada: Considerada demasiado importante, especial o protegida para ser cambiada, cuestionada o violada.

El Día de Reposo

3 “‘Hay seis días en los que podrán trabajar, pero el séptimo día es día de reposo solemne, día de sagrada convocación. No harán ningún trabajo; dondequiera que vivan, será día de reposo dedicado al SEÑOR.’

El día de reposo es un período designado de descanso semanal y reflexión espiritual. Arraigado en la palabra hebrea Shabbat (que significa “cesar” o “descansar”), se trata fundamentalmente de detenerse de las labores diarias para enfocarse en la fe, la familia y la restauración.

En el Antiguo Testamento, descuidar intencionalmente una fiesta obligatoria o no presentar las ofrendas requeridas significaba que un hombre judío sería “cortado de entre su pueblo”.

Esta severa pena —conocida en hebreo como karet— era la consecuencia más seria dentro de la Ley Mosaica.

Significaba que la persona era separada por la fuerza de la comunidad del pacto, de la congregación y del favor de Dios, lo cual frecuentemente resultaba en ser expulsado de la nación de Israel o enfrentar juicio divino directo.

Pero ahora vivimos bajo la gracia, ya no tenemos que seguir la ley, ¿dices tú?

Mateo 5:17
“No piensen que he venido para abolir o invalidar la Ley o los Profetas; no he venido para abolirlos, sino para cumplirlos plenamente.

La iglesia no debería ser una guardería de cristianos; está llamada a ser la casa del Señor, donde vamos para ser discípulos.

No para entretener a la gente.

Sino para entrenar, discipular, corregir y enseñar.

La congregación sagrada no era opcional entonces, y no debería ser opcional ahora.

Dios sabía que no podríamos caminar este camino solos, por eso nos dio este mandamiento.

Échate raíces donde el Señor te ha plantado.

Sacred Congregation

Leviticus 23:1-3
The LORD said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘These are my appointed festivals, the appointed festivals of the LORD, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.

Sacred: Regarded as too important, special, or protected to be changed, questioned, or violated

The Sabbath

3 “‘There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the LORD.

The Sabbath is a designated period of weekly rest and spiritual reflection. Rooted in the Hebrew word Shabbat (meaning "to cease" or "to rest"), it is fundamentally about pausing from everyday labor to focus on faith, family, and restoration.

In the Old Testament, intentionally neglecting a mandatory festival or failing to make the required offerings meant a Jewish man would be "cut off from among his people".

This severe penalty—known in Hebrew as karet—was the most serious consequence in the Mosaic Law.
It meant the individual was forcibly separated from the covenant community, from the congregation and from the favor of God, which frequently resulted in being banished from the nation of Israel or facing direct divine judgment.

But we live under grace now, we dont have to follow the law, you say?

Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to do away with or undo the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to do away with or undo but to complete and fulfill them

The church shoul not be a daycare of Christians, its called to be the house of the Lord, where go to be disciples.
Not to entertain people.

But to train, disciple, correct, and teach.

The sacred congregation was not optional then, it shouldn't be optional now.

God knew we couldn't walk this walk alone, that is why He gave this commandment.

Get rooted when the Lord has planted you.

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice reminds us of the words of Jesus in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

As we gather with family and friends, let us never forget the cost of the freedoms we enjoy today. May we pray for the families of the fallen, for our veterans, and for our nation.

May God comfort those who mourn, strengthen those who serve, and guide us to live with gratitude, faith, and purpose.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9

Happy Memorial Day. May we remember with honor, reflect with humility, and trust in the Lord always.
