We have experienced the hardships that plague women daily from trying to juggle work and a family, to being a single parent who is struggling with joblessness. We share common denominators of womanhood and we are rooted in the word of God. Our relationships with one another developed at First Baptist North Mobile(FBNM) where most of us attend. The bond that we have has either developed on a missio
n trip, away from the typical church setting or as we volunteered for an outreach at our church. We are also encompassed by many volunteers from First Baptist Church of Chickasaw(FBCC), FBNM, and the Chickasaw United Methodist Church. The original vision for Front Porch Ministry was founded in the heart of Frances Cain(pictured to the right), a resident of Chickasaw, who has since gone on to be with the Lord. Frances had been a Sunday School Teacher for many years of her life, teaching young ladies in the city of Chickasaw. She was a mother of three boys and worked outside the home at different stages in their development. Being a resident of Chickasaw, Al, since the early 1950's she noticed changes in the way her neighbors related to one another around early 2000's. This change was brought about by a newly integrated community that developed as the years passed and her own friends moved away. Her desire was for Christ's love to be shared by all, living in harmony and developing relationships with one another and with their local church. Though awkward at first, the task was made easy by simply doing what Christ stated, "owe no man(or woman) anything except to love them." And that is exactly what we at Front Porch desire for everyone who comes through our doors to do. As her daughter in law, she shared with me her vision to love others as Christ so loved us, and that is our driving force today. Many women desire to share or confide in one another, but may feel inadequate for the task, due to low self esteem or the fear of being judged. We want to remove that stigma and let each woman know how much she has to bring to the table. To let each woman know how much she is loved by God and treasured. She is blessed and her children are blessed. These concepts are learned through relational evangelism and the teaching of life skills at each meeting. Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.
