This coming Sunday we're beginning a brand new series called Elephant in the Room. It's all about overcoming hidden sin in our lives. Everybody's got hidden sin. Nobody wants to admit they've got hidden sin. Therein lies the rub. As we say in recovery, we are only as sick as the secrets we keep. In other words, we are only as sin-sick as the hidden sins we commit. Join us this coming Sunday as we dive into a topic nobody wants to acknowledge but everybody needs to talk about. It's all happening at 9am in the Well or 11am in the Sanctuary. See you there!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing updates from the Liberia mission trip we weren’t able to share while in Liberia. Today’s update comes from an interview with Larry, a resident of the village of Gipo (population 6,000) where we sponsored the construction of a water well and where the Gipo School is located where we sponsor approximately 100 kids to go to school.

Our Food Pantry is here to serve the 30707 zip code and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm. We are located at 126 Cove Road in downtown Chickamauga. Pull into the parking lot next to the church offices and a volunteer will be out to greet you!

This Memorial Day, as we give thanks for those who laid down their lives for the sake of our country and our freedom, let's also remember each family affected by the deaths of those brave souls. Those who lost their lives in our armed services demonstrated that "greater love" that Jesus talks about. Appreciative as we may be for those who paid the ultimate price and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our sake, unless we've been there, we can't imagine what it's like to find out a loved one isn't coming home. So, as we say a prayer of thanks for those who died, let's also remember those family and loved ones left behind. As proud as they may be, their grief is a grief we cannot imagine.

Jesus, your greater love is both completely undeserved and most appreciated all at the same time. As thankful as we are, we cannot imagine what is was like for your Father (and ours) to see you suffer and die. Likewise, we cannot imagine what it's like (unless we've been there) to know a family member isn't coming home. Today, we honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice while offering their loved ones left behind to your care, love, and concern. Wrap them closely and hold them tight. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

It's the last day of school, which means graduations are happening at local schools. Graduates, congratulations! You find yourself at a threshold moment in your life. One door is closing and, whether you realize it or not, another is opening. Whether you know exactly where you're headed and what the future holds or tomorrow is far fuzzier than you'd like, the God who brought you into this world as a baby continues to walk beside you as you walk across the graduation stage and into adulthood. Our prayer for you has little to do with the knowledge you've accumulated over the course of your life and education, though that is vitally important. Our prayer for the Class of 2026 is simply this: that you would have the wisdom to be an even better follower than you are a leader. Here's what we mean. We live in a world that values and respects leadership. Leadership is vitally important. But, the best leaders are better followers. The best leaders have the humility to be good followers. While that sounds like generic life advice, it's deeply Christian. God has not called us to be good leaders. He's called us to be followers. Followers of Jesus Christ. Followers of his way and his teaching. No matter how wonderful a leader you become, may you always be an even better follower of Jesus Christ.
