In 2011 at 17 years old, Keyla Castro Amaro wrote a reflection titled “Sparks, Flames and Torches,” describing a vision that began in her childhood in Monterrey’s Cerro de la Campana neighborhood. Surrounded by both the strength of her church community and the realities of poverty, violence, and family instability, Keyla sensed an early calling to make a difference. What she described then as a “spark of faith” was a simple but profound conviction that changing the life of one child could transform an entire future.

Over the years, has grown into a sustained and deeply rooted commitment to her community. Through her leadership with FUNDEFAM and her long-running Kids’ Club, Keyla has created spaces where children are nurtured, supported, and reminded of their worth. What began as small gatherings has grown into a consistent, relational presence in the lives of many.

Today, Keyla brings both lived experience and professional training in psychotherapy to her work, equipping her to respond with care, skill, and compassion. As a community leader, she continues to build programs, form partnerships, and strengthen initiatives that serve vulnerable families. The vision she named as a teenager remains the same, but it now burns with greater clarity and impact, lighting the way for others.

Communities across Chile’s Biobío and Ñuble regions are beginning the long road to recovery after devastating wildfires burned more than 42,000 hectares. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and in Penco alone, an estimated 6,000 homes were destroyed.

Our partners at the Iglesia del Pacto Evangélico de Chile (IPECH) have been serving alongside their neighbors from the beginning. Teams of volunteers are clearing debris and damaged materials, while others are providing hot meals, food, prayer, and support to affected families. IPECH is also working to identify those facing the greatest challenges so that aid and assistance can reach those who need it most. The work continues as IPECH prepares for the next phase of recovery and longer-term support.

Please pray for those in Chile grieving loved ones and rebuilding after unimaginable loss, and for our partners as they continue serving their communities. 🙏

Please pray for Nepal as communities continue to face devastating disasters.

Most recently, severe flash floods have swept through communities along the Nepal-China border, taking dozens of lives and leaving hundreds missing. Families are grieving, communities have been displaced, and rescue efforts continue amid damaged roads and infrastructure.

We pray for those who have lost loved ones, those still waiting for news of the missing, and the first responders and neighbors working to bring people to safety. May God bring comfort, protection, and strength to the people of Nepal in the days ahead.

🙏 Join us in praying for Nepal.

Access to a corn mill can make all the difference. 🌽

As local corn mills shut down amid ongoing crisis, families in Santa Njong, Cameroon, had to travel farther and pay more to process their maize, sometimes losing part of their harvest to spoilage. Many members of Seven Stars, a community savings group in Santa Njong, are pig farmers and smallholder farmers who have experienced displacement.

Through our partner, Society for Initiatives in Rural Development and Environmental Protection (SIRDEP), the Seven Stars group received corn mills that brought processing back into the community.

Now, farmers can process maize closer to home, reduce costs and crop losses, and more easily turn their harvest into food and animal feed, helping families keep more of what they grow and strengthen their livelihoods. 🌱
