Words Have the Power to Bring Hope

Join Commonweal Action on Wednesday, September 16 for a letter-writing campaign supporting the Prairieland Defendants—individuals who have spent more than a year in prison while appealing their cases after participating in a peaceful protest.

A thoughtful letter can remind someone that they are seen, remembered, and not forgotten. Writing materials, envelopes, and stamps will be provided, and everyone is welcome—whether you're an experienced advocate or writing your very first letter.

Friends, here is information about Fr. Dom's wake and funeral, which will be held at St. St Josaphat Parish.

We are mourning the loss of our beloved Pastor Emeritus Fr. Dominic J. Grassi.

His wake will be on Friday, September 4, and his funeral will be on Saturday, September 5 at St. Josaphat Church, 2311 N. Southport at Belden.

Once times have been confirmed, we will share them.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

With deep sorrow, St. Gertrude Parish announces the passing of Fr. Dominic Grassi, who served as pastor of the parish for 11 years.

Fr. Dom was an important part of the life of St. Gertrude for many years, and his presence and ministry left a lasting mark on the parish and its people. He will be remembered with gratitude and affection and will be deeply missed.

Funeral and wake arrangements are not yet available. The parish will share information as soon as it is received.

In the days ahead, please keep Fr. Dom’s family, his many friends, and the countless people and communities he served in your prayers.

May Fr. Dom rest in eternal peace.
