ZaZen is the heart of our Japanese Meditation practice at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago — a simple, silent, seated meditation.

There’s no chanting to learn and nothing to believe in to begin. You just sit, breathe, and let thoughts settle. In stillness and silence, we practice being fully present, moment by moment.

Our sittings are guided and beginner-friendly. Whether you’ve meditated for years or have never sat before, you are welcome to join our journey into Awareness and Appreciation.

What to Expect:
• Silent, seated practice in a calm, supportive group setting
• A short introduction for newcomers
• Periods of sitting with breaks in between

Practical Details:
• Come dressed casually and comfortably
• We provide meditation pillows and chairs — just bring yourself
• Free parking available
• If meditating at home, ensure you have space to walk around safely as we will introduce Walking Meditation
• All meditations are free. Yet a donation for the temple is always welcomed and appreciated, but never expected
