Join us tonight at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago at 7:15 PM CT as we sit together for our weekly practice.

Tonight’s theme is Gentle Acceptance — You are allowed to be as you are. We will sit with whatever arises, without needing to fix or change it, meeting ourselves with kindness.

NOTE : After tonight’s meditation at the temple, we will be live from Mexico for two weeks. Practice will continue but will be offered only via live stream here - and we will cover Eating Meditation!! So stay tuned…

Sit with you in a few hours!!!

Come join us tonight at 7:15 PM at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago. We will gather for meditation and our focus is observing the inner critic.

Instead of fighting those harsh thoughts, we will meet them with gentle awareness and Amida's compassion. Take a breath, settle in, and remember you are held just as you are.

What we do together is divided into three sections:

1. Guided Meditation – We begin with the weekly theme, focusing on posture and breath and meeting self-critical thoughts without harshness.

2. Walking Meditation – We bring that awareness into slow, mindful movement, feeling the body as home.

3. Zazen – We close with a sit down in silence, letting silence itself become kindness toward yourself.

All are welcome, no experience needed. Just wear comfortable clothing and arrive a few minutes early to settle in.

Sit with you soon!!

Weekly ZaZen Meditation -

You are warmly invited to join our weekly meditation gathering at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago. Rooted from Pure Land Buddhism and centered on appreciating oneself, this is a gentle, welcoming space for both beginners and seasoned practitioners to sit together.

Our Thursday series running through December 17, each evening offers a fresh angle on self-kindness — this week, observing the inner critic with the reminder that awareness is kinder than judgment.

Our meditation session is divided into three sections. We begin with a Guided Meditation focused on the weekly theme, offering breath awareness and a soft prompt to meet self-critical thoughts without harshness. We then transition into Walking Meditation, bringing that same awareness into slow, mindful movement and feeling the body as home. We close with Zazen Meditation — a sit down in silence, maintaining upright posture and soft gaze, letting silence itself become an act of kindness toward yourself.

What to expect is a calm, non-competitive community where showing up on the cushion is enough. No experience is needed, just comfortable clothing and a willingness to sit as you are.

We meet every Thursday at 7:15 PM Central Standard Time at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago, or LiveStreamed here.

Please arrive a few minutes early to settle.
All are welcome.

Sit with you Thursday!!!
