🥚🐣🐥 Every spring, our students participate in our annual Chick Hatch Project, where they incubate chicken eggs in the classroom and learn all about the hatching process through hands-on STEM learning and observation.

Watching the chicks begin to hatch today brought so much excitement and joy to our classrooms. Learning truly came to life right before their eyes 👀👀👀

Now the students can’t wait for the chance to hold their baby chicks. Such a fun tradition and amazing learning opportunity at Chicago West Side Christian! 💙🦅💛

✨ What a special night at the Chicago West Side Christian Annual Benefit!

🔥 From our silent auction and raffles with fantastic prizes to amazing food catered by Beyond Catering, to inspiring student performances, heartfelt fellowship, and meaningful networking—it was a night that beautifully showcased what makes Chicago West Side Christian so special.

🫶🏽 One of the greatest highlights was seeing the entire CWSCS family together—students, parents, staff, alumni, former staff, community supporters, and friends of the school—all united around a shared mission: investing in the students, teachers, and mission of Chicago West Side Christian.

🏛️ We were honored to welcome representatives for State Senator Lakesia Collins and 24th Ward Alderwoman Monique L. Scott and incredibly grateful that Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson sent a special video message in support of our school and benefit.

🎬 Guests also got the world premiere of our new promotional video, highlighting the heart, impact, and future of CWSCS.

🙏 To everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, sponsored, bid in the auction, or supported from afar—thank you. If you weren’t able to make it this year, we hope to see you next year.

📚What an Incredible Read Across America Week at Chicago West Side Christian!

🕵️ This week was filled with excitement, imagination, and a whole lot of reading! Our students had an amazing time celebrating Read Across America Week, and we are so grateful for the many wonderful volunteers, parents, and community members who served as Mystery Readers and came in to read to our students. Seeing the surprise and excitement on our students’ faces when a Mystery Reader walked into the classroom was priceless!

⏸️ We also introduced D.E.A.R. — Drop Everything And Read time, where students paused their day to silently and independently read any book of their choice. It was incredible to see classrooms filled with students fully immersed in books they were excited about.

❤️ At Chicago West Side Christian, we work hard every day to build strong literacy and fluency skills, but just as importantly, we are committed to developing lifelong lovers of books and reading. Weeks like this remind us how powerful reading can be for our students.

Black History Month was 🔥🔥🔥! We wrapped up a jam packed Black History Month with two unforgettable events that brought history to life!

❤️🖤💚 Our gym transformed into a powerful Living Black History Wax Museum. Students brought to life influential Black historical figures, creating poster boards and presenting the lives and legacies of leaders, innovators, activists, and trailblazers. It was inspiring to see history come alive right before our eyes.

✊🏾 🏆 We also turned up the energy with our 1st Annual Soul Bowl! This high-energy, game-show style Black History trivia competition featured teams from 4th through 8th grade — and the crowd was electric! Students cheered loudly for their classmates, and our younger grades proudly supported their Eagles-Eggs peer mentorship partners. Kiddos to our top teams!

🙌🏾 We are incredibly proud of every scholar who participated, demonstrated knowledge, confidence, and teamwork, and helped us celebrate a meaningful month of learning.

🔥 Over the past two weeks, our spacious, beautifully maintained full-sized gymnasium served as more than just a space for P.E. classes and indoor recess during cold winter days — it became a vibrant hub of school community life. We proudly hosted our annual Daddy-Daughter Dance and a 3×3 intramural basketball tournament for our elementary and middle school students.

👑 We transformed the gym into a magical space for our annual Princess & Her King Dance (aka Daddy-Daughter Dance). Watching our young ladies share such meaningful moments with their fathers and father figures was truly special. Nights like this build confidence, connection, and lasting memories.

🏀 The following week the gym was buzzing again as families packed the stands to cheer on our students during our 3×3 basketball intramural tournament. The energy was high, the competition was fun, and the support from our school community was incredible.

💡 While we love creating memorable experiences, academics are always our top priority. In math, in honor of the Super Bowl, our students brought excitement into the classroom by playing paper football, collecting data, and converting their results between fractions, decimals, and percentages — hands-on learning that makes concepts stick.

🔬🧬 💡STEM is alive and thriving at CWSCS! From hands-on experiments to creative problem-solving, our students are learning how to think critically, ask great questions, and use science and innovation to better understand the world around them. It’s been awesome to see our classrooms filled with curiosity, collaboration, and real-world learning!

♻️ 🪱 🌎 1st Grade has been learning about compost bins and how to care for the Earth’s natural resources. Students even got an up-close look at worms and helped add shredded items into the compost bin—what a fun (and messy!) way to learn about sustainability and protecting our planet!

🛠️🗑️ 🤖 4th Grade took STEM to the next level by creating inventions designed to help improve our school. One standout invention was the Trash-O-Matic (or T.O.M. for short)—a creative solution built with purpose and imagination!

⚙️🧪🔥 Middle School students did a fantastic job presenting their MRE Reaction Models, showing strong scientific thinking, creativity, and confidence as they explained their work.

🀄➕ 🧠 And this week we launched a new after-school Mahjong club, where students are strengthening real STEM skills through play—mental math, pattern recognition, logic, memory, strategy, and problem-solving!

💪🏽 2026 is off to a strong start at Chicago West Side Christian 🚀

😁 It was so great to welcome everyone back and see our halls and classrooms filled once again with smiling faces, laughter, and energy. After time away, there’s something special about reconnecting — strengthening friendships, deepening fellowship, and coming back together as a school community🔥

🏀 The week was filled with moments that reminded us how vibrant and connected our school community is. Our basketball teams were back in action, with cheerleaders showing up to support and encourage their classmates. We also welcomed the Chicago Police Department into our PreK and Kindergarten classrooms for an Officer Friendly presentation, where students learned about safety, trusted adults, how police officers help our community, and what to do if they ever need help👮‍♂️

📚Alongside these experiences, we jumped right back into what we do best: teaching and learning. Classrooms were focused and engaged as students settled back into routines, collaborated with classmates, and continued growing academically📈
