Calvary Missionary Baptist Church

Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Calvary was established in 1957. It is located at 10901 Ave. "L" Chicago, IL. All are welcome to join this page. Especially past and present members.

An old preacher called, “Preacher Stewart,” is credited with starting Calvary Baptist Church in Chicago, on 109th & Ave. “L,” with a handful of members. The church almost closed down, when several of them moved their membership to Back to the Cross Baptist Church, now known as Trinity Baptist in Hammond, Indiana, due to it being such a small congregation. But in 1957 Beacered Roberts, Marynelle B

ell (Roberts) Preacher Paul Stinett, and his wife Sue, Mary Roberts, Lucille Chastine, and a Ms. Roberts re-organized Calvary. They purchased the property on 109th, and Ave. “L” from the Nazarene church. It was a basement then. The group had $10.00 when they spoke to them. But with faith, and the $10.00 in hand they agreed to sell. They got the rest of the money together, and it has been a Baptist church since 1957. Thousands have been saved. Preachers, Pastors, Evangelists, Missionaries, Musicians, faithful servants of the LORD are STILL working for the Kingdom of God today because of the ministry of the little Baptist church on the corner of 109th and Ave. “L,” called Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Hey Calvary Missionary Baptist Church family!
As you know there have been several people that once was a major part of Calvary, has gone on to be with The LORD in 2021. Another person that was a former pastor in the early 60's was pastor
T. R. Ethridge. Pastor Ethridge passed away in late October of 2021...He was a tremendous blessing...He and his wife Betty.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, and prosperous 2022, and that God uses you all more than ever!
Love all my Calvary church family!

Merry Christmas to all my Calvary Family🎄
Betty Jo (Bell)Matoy went home be me with The Lord Dec 15th. Betty was a long time member of Calvary & wife of Wayne Matoy one of Calvarys pastors. She was always my favorite aunt. She was the last of my Mommas family members to go home out of the 10 children. Although my heart is broken for my familys loss, I rejoice knowing she is home with Uncle Wayne & all those that are with The Lord. Please say a prayer for Donna, Eddie, the grand & great grand children. Holidays can be lonesome when someone is missing. I love y’all and pray that y’all have a wonderful Christmas & a HeaHealthy happy New Year❤️Carolyn

Jerry A. Baker, 78, late of Schererville, IN, and formerly of Chicago, IL, and Tellico Plains, TN, passed away on March 2, 2021, after a three-year battle with cancer. Devoted husband of 45 years to Delores (nee Bell) Baker. Loving and proud father of Kelly (Thomas) Barnes. Jerry’s life exemplified 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” He lived a life full of humility, kindness, and generosity, which ended surrounded in love with his faith in God undiminished. He overcame adversity at many turns in his life, but he never complained nor ever lost hope. He fought the good fight until the very end. Good Morning Everyone!
Sorry I havent been able to give an update since Friday. My Anniversary was this past weekend, and we have been super busy!

Ashley Sampson was able to come home on Friday! 🙌🙌 She is in NO WAY OUT OF THE WOODS YET.

She still has the clots in her Lungs, Abdomen, and Leg. Her procedure on Thursday allowed them to get the majority of them out of her leg and Abdomen, but not all of them.

We are BLOWN AWAY at HOW MANY clots Ashley had. One is to many!
She had 15 to 20 clots maybe even more. It was very difficult to determine, but this we do know...God watched over her and must have more for Ashley to do...We are firm believers in that!

She has been put on blood thinners and is resting here at home. She was able to go to church yesterday morning, AND EVEN SANG A SONG...and then to a restaurant after church. It WORE her out, but something she wanted to try.

She is here at home right now, and will remain here to rest, and recoup. She has tons of doctors appointments coming up with different ones to try and figure out why she is getting these clots. We have an idea, but we need to run some tests to definitively answer this question properly.

Me and Sarah J Sampson are going to try and leave this coming Sarurday to begin 4 straight weeks of Revival meetings in Tennessee, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.

So please continue to pray for our family as we go through all this together. Ashley has received THOUSANDS of well wishes, and prayers. It has helped to lift her spirits.

If you would like to send her a note of encouragement you can write her on her Facebook messenger, or simply comment below. She can use all the encouragement you can give her.

Here is a mailing address as well, if you would like to mail her a letter;

She sends her love as we all do to each and everyone of you.

I'll give more updates as they are relative to her getting better and as she begins her therapy and doctor appointments.

Please Share this with as many people as you can, and when you have nothing else to pray for, PLEASE PRAY FOR ASHLEY, and OUR FAMILY. 😘😘🙏🙏🙌🙌
