Dear Friend,
Violence is the new plague! On behalf of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and myself, we are pleased to have the honor of inviting you to A Requiem for the Victims of Violence Concert on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 4 pm to 6 pm located at 2132 E. 72nd Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60649.
The St. Philip Neri Chamber Players, accompanied by Internationally Renowned Special Guest Violinist, Rachel Barton Pine, will perform classical music masterworks by JS Bach, Vivaldi and Samuel Barber. The invited keynote address will be given by Chris Kennedy, Founder of Top Box Foods, Inc.
Families who have been impacted by violence in Chicago will be formally invited. The concert is a fundraising event for the Instruments of Peace Venture Philanthropy Fund of the Archdiocese of Chicago. All proceeds will be donated to the Archdiocese of Chicago.
In April 2017, the Archdiocese of Chicago launched its Instruments of Peace Venture Philanthropy Fund to invest in innovative anti-violence approaches and existing programs throughout the City of Chicago. Cardinal Cupich said “Broad gestures and sweeping rhetoric will not solve the problem [violence]. We need to do this person by person.”
Workshops helping youth and adults deal with trauma and mental health awareness will be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic School on September 23rd, 2017 from 10 am to Noon.
The concert promises to be an event focused on promoting peace through meditation and prayer. We hope to see you. Thank you.
