Zechariah 1-3 "I Am Exceedingly Jealous for Jerusalem"

God calling His people to return to Him after the exile, promising that He will return to them and restore their relationship. Zechariah receives visions showing God’s concern for Jerusalem and His plan to rebuild and bless the city once again. God reveals that He will judge the nations that oppressed His people and will raise up workers to accomplish His purposes. In a powerful vision, Joshua the high priest is cleansed of his filthy garments, symbolizing God’s forgiveness and the removal of His people’s sin through His coming Servant.

Key Lesson:
God graciously restores and cleanses those who return to Him, accomplishing His purposes not through human merit but through His mercy and redeeming power.

Haggai 2:1–23 "The Latter Glory Shall Be Greater"

God’s people are not to be discouraged by the smaller appearance of the new temple compared to the former one. God promises that His Spirit is still with them and that future glory will be greater than the past. The people’s impurity had affected their work and blessings, but God calls them to renewed obedience and holiness. God also gives Zerubbabel hope, promising to establish him as His chosen servant in the midst of coming upheaval.

Key Lesson:
God’s presence and promises matter more than outward appearances, and faithful obedience invites His blessing and future hope.

(Post-Exile Prophets Series) Building The Lord's House or Your Own? Haggai 1:1-15

God rebuked the people of Judah because they lived comfortably in their own houses while His temple remained in ruins. Their struggles and lack of satisfaction came because they neglected God’s house and put their own priorities first. Through Haggai, God called them to consider their ways and return to the work of rebuilding the temple. The people obeyed God’s word, and God encouraged them by saying, “I am with you.”

Key Lesson: When we put God first and obey His word, He strengthens us with His presence.

Romans 4:13–25 "The God Who Gives Life to the Dead"

God’s promise to Abraham came not through the law, but through faith in God’s grace. Abraham believed God even when his body was old and Sarah’s womb seemed unable to bear a child. His faith grew strong because he trusted that God had the power to do what he promised. In the same way, righteousness is given to us when we believe in Jesus, who died for our sins and rose again.

Key lesson: We are made right with God not by our works, but by faith in Jesus Christ, who gives life where there seems to be no hope.

Romans 4:1–12 "God Justifies the Ungodly"

Abraham was not justified by works, but by faith he believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. David also speaks of the blessing of those whose sins are forgiven apart from works. This righteousness comes by faith, not by observing the law or through human effort. Abraham received this before circumcision, showing he is the father of all who believe, both Jew and Gentile.

Key lesson: We are made right with God not by what we do, but by trusting in Him, just as Abraham did.
